I have heard rumors on this for awhile (as I am sure you all have as well) but received word the other day that it is a done deal.

They wanted to build two years ago in front of the Hilton hotel in west Ames by the Sukup facility but the city of Ames starting messing around with the deal (Weird) and TR bailed.

Hopefully it gets done, another dining option for Ames and more restaurants on that side of town are needed

I agree Broncos. It just seems like everywhere is packed on any Friday or Saturday night. Another option would be great.

Maybe this will relieve the stress on the Des Moines one. Every time I drive by, don't care what time, it is always busy. It has tons of cars and people standing around.

I could go there and just eat the rolls w/ cinnamon butter.

i agree, the rolls and cinnamon butter is great. the rest of the food is sub par at best. i feel like a food snob now. yesterday i blasted Applebees and now Texas Roadhouse. I even have a $50 giftcard for the Texas Roadhouse here in Des Moines and i'll never use it.

There are places I like better, but I like Texas Roadhouse. Send me the giftcard, and I'll make sure to use it.

The one here in CF is ALWAYS packed, and I don't get it. It is an okay steak, but not worth waiting an hour in a cramped front area for.

i would send it but it was given to me by a coworker who is friends with the manager there. My friend happened to see one of my FB posts where i said i was disappointed in the food etc. anyway, he mentioned it to his manager friend and he handed him a giftcard to give to me. he wrote on it to ask for him so he could make sure my meal was perfect and whatnot.

so i'd hate to give it to someone and have the chance of my friend looking bad.

I don't get it either. I went to the one in Des Moines last year and was very underwhelmed. In fact, I don't think I would ever go to another one again.

I think I'm a little spoiled here in Chicago, we have a LOT of really good steak houses in the city.

Seriously? A free steak is a free steak. Their steaks might not be top shelf but they're not bad either so get off your high horse and go get a free meal

Thats the thing.. ive had it once and it was good food, but very few places are worth waiting as long as you almost always have to at TR.

I'd rather go to LoneStar or Outback and that's saying something. The one in Johnston is less than 2 miles from my house and I've been once. The food was average at best, there were so many kids I thought I was at Showbiz, and they came out and sang happy birthday to 3 people in the hour that we were there.

I will say that since day one it's been packed. I don't know why when you have a lot better choices so close but it is busy.
