Was Brockington really that clutch? He was crucial and hit big shots throughout but how many game winners/sealers did he have in a 7-11 conference season? He struggled to finish at the rim like many others.
In college basketball's current state all sorts of high ranked teams are flawed and in there somewhere ISU fits or they wouldn't get the votes.
I think Holmes ability to score at the rim has nearly replaced a lot of Brockington's mid range game in terms of just getting buckets.
Other reasons offense took a quantum leap forward:
- Lipsey scoring at rim at times and usually at a very high %
- Gabe improved shooting and improved his own mid range game to literally replace Brockington's strength
- Grill improved shooting
- Osun scoring at rim in some games
- Guys like King, Osun, Jones, Lipsey, Watson and Ward scoring more on offensive rebounds than we did last year
Playing against normal teams with normal officiating, our offense is actually quite nice to watch many games. We were #2 scoring offense in B12 play a couple weeks ago, not sure if that's still the case.
The idea that "we are the new WVU" is crazy dumb. I've never seen WVU's all around game look as fluid as we looked in both games vs KU. When we get shooters like Milan in here our offense is going to be fine, especially with Lipsey adding stability for years barring injury. It'll be great to still play great defense but we're already past last year where a game HAS to be a rock fight for ISU to win.
