For our sake, I want Tubby as the coach as long as possible. With the extension they signed him to, last year or the year before - he's got a monster contract they'll have to eat...

With the big 10 money that would be no problem the U is loaded very good financial shape. As for Shaka Smart he has no connection with any of the three recruits and has never recruited any of them. I doubt they are going to feel comfort in going with someone who hasn't recruited them at all. They will pick a school where they know the coaching staff and feel comfortable going. I think Vaugh prob goes to UNC hard to say know but I could see ISU gettign Travis and possibly another from that class who's not in the big 3 but very good player.

I don't see Shaka leaving anything short of a blue blood, remember he turned down Illinois last year who is a better program. Heck even VCU is a better program than Minnesota right now.

I obviously don't have inside info on this, but I'm getting the feeling that Vaughn doesn't want to go to Minnesota. Seems like he is just keeping them in the running for the possessive hometown fans.

Agree with this, I believe the buyout for Tubby is 2.5 million this year. He won't be fired if he makes the tournament which they should do due to the already mentioned 15-1 start along with finishing .500% in Big 10 play. Ideally for ISU recruiting it would be best if this gopher team slips into the tourney playing uninspiring ball and is bounced in the first round. Consitanly scoring in the 50's and not haveing a PG isn't going to attract Vaughn to play for the Gopher's.

Also while the U of M has B1G money and can "afford the buyout", the Barn is aging and upgrades are in the works and they don't currently have a practice facility (though Tubby has been begining for one since he took the job). I would guess the AD would prefer to work on those two basketball improvements and put the 2.5 million to that.

I was not saying ISU was out of it.......it was just that some were acting like U of M did not even have a program, and it turns out they have a very good one. Minnesota is a top 10 program, ISU is a top 15, so there is not that much difference. If a student is a serious vet med student, I would think the location of the National Animal Disease Center in Ames would be interesting too.

I think ISU does have a chance with Vaughn and Travis. I could see the possibility of those 2, along with Travis' teammate, Jarvis Johnson (2015 ISU offer) all coming to ISU. They all know each other pretty well. Plus, Jarvis' sister Seanna is coming here next year to play for BF. If that goes well that could help too.

I heard Minnesota is not a real university, set up like that fake town in Blazing Saddles. I also heard their basketball team is all done in CGI.
