The 2005 team also did pretty good wearing them.

So maybe it only works in years ending in zero or 5?

1995/6 = 24-9 record, second round NCAA exit. Not bad.
2000/1 = 25-6 record The dreaded #2 seed debacle against the team who shall not be named...
2005/6 = 16-14 record, not what I call good.
2010/11 = 16-16 record. McD / Freddy transition...does not count

Well there goes that theory. Heck, the 2000 season alone should be enough proof that the gold jerseys are cursed. Come on...#2 seed losing to #15 seed. Like I said, the gold jerseys are the ISU version of AIRBHG.

I don't recall Iowa State wearing Gold Uniforms in 2000-01. I believe they were a Tim Floyd/Wayne Morgan/Fred Hoiberg era team jerseys.

I could have sworn that we did for a home game in non-conf...but my goodness I was probably too lit to remember the girl I was with let alone what color the team wore...

That was when we wore Adidas uniforms and I don't remember ever seeing a gold Adidas uniform. In the 90's they were Russell and Nike after LE.

Sports curses don't exist unless you are a cubs fan. We only wear the golds for big games against more talented opponents. If we wore them against terrible teams and go undefeated we would want to wear them more.

Like the yellow unis, especially with "Cyclones" across the chest.

Wear them against some patsy in Hilton early in the season and then wear them for Big games again. Curses are for pansies.

Mods, please implement the auto-ban that we all agreed upon for anyone that ever mentions that event as though it actually occurred. Thank you.

Wearing the Golds last season was an appropriate use of alternate — 3 out of 30 regular season games.
All were losses, but we can't blame that on the uniforms:

  • Vegas tournament — vs. eventual NCAA tournament team away from home (although I can’t recall off-hand if that was vs. Cincy or UNLV???).
  • at Oklahoma State, where an even bigger "Sports Curse" continues regardless of clothing ... vs. top-20 tournament seed.
  • Gold-Out vs. KU ... a wonderful combo of Hilton crowd and team jerseys — an impressive visual; frustrating result, yes, but don't forget, KU was a regional 1-seed, and it was a fluke-possession from going the other way.
I understand the superstition factor in sports, so anything off-the-map draws more attention if it's a loss. Using the alternate in five or six games that aren't all "marquee" matchups may bring some levity.

My only other stipulation: Don't wear them vs. an opponent whose colors include a secondary gold, especially if that team occasionally uses a yella-based uniform. That eliminates using them vs. Iowa or Michigan, for example.

Really???
Abiotic plant or synthetic fibers have no supernatural power over players ability.
It's the player in the uniform, and his talent that determine the outcome.
I guess this is a middle school mentality, from a very immature teenager.
Wear the gold, red ,or white, it's the skill of the players, and the lack of ability
of the officals that determine the out come.

I'm convinced that we must go back to wearing the home whites against KU. The gold jerseys only work on teams without a pulse, ala UNC-Wilmington, Auburn, and Akron.

We would have gone at least 7-25 from 3, giving us a 79-77 victory. They must be made out of a slightly different material that is heavier than the white uniforms that affects our shooting in big games.

I like them. however, if they continually can't win with them on then get rid of them and get something else cool.

The gold jerseys have nothing to do with how well we shoot. We weren't wearing them against OU, were we?

The stupidstitions, however, have to go!
