Correction on the Dekkers evaluation. One of the two picks was a poor choice and throw. The other was all on the receiver running the wrong route. It was an easy completion if Noel had run the correct route.
In the post game interview Dekkers said it was on him. He got confused on the route - could be falling on the sword for Noel.

Linebackers made a huge improvement from last week. That was my biggest worry coming into this game. Reeder looked like a different player out there.

TJ Tampa had his best game as a Cyclone. We've all heard about his potential - hopefully this is the start of an all-conference year for him.

Will McDonald was a menace out there. Love that guy.

Very lucky Arland Bruce was tackled by the turf monster on the possession they fumbled.

Their linebackers are elite
Thank God you started a new thread to give us all your expert opinion, Rod.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that everyone was on the edge of their seat waiting to know what you thought about the game. After scouring the multiple existing threads and not finding anything from you, you could imagine how relieved I was to see this. Thanks again, Rod!

No more QB run in the red zone please. Love Dekkers, but he is a pretty crappy runner of the football.

Denver
Short synopsis and grades. No comments on refs. Decent.

Great
X - No more to be said
D - I hope we can hold Heacock some more years
OL - I can see a "good" instead of great, but very strong today, pass and run blocking. Nice surprise

Good
Brock - Studly effort, but cannot, cannot fumble on the one. Don't care if Rus hit you. Hold the f'n ball.
Kicking - Not a disaster, lol, saying something
Dekkers - We need better effort, young man. Two horrible picks.
QB running - Not great, but lovely to see it part of our offense again

Bad
Manning - wtf not going under center at the one?
TE - Do we even have a competent TE on the squad anymore? wtf?

Ugly
ST - Wow, getting one punt blocked is insane, two is inexusable
Campbell - Can we show up for an Iowa game once? 3 turnovers, 2 blocked punts. You have a gold bar up your ass to win this one.
Good takes, agree with majority.

Great (thoughts on your points):
- I think Jon Heacock is in a destination job. Why would he want to start somewhere fresh at 60 something years old. I truly believe this is his last coaching stop.
- The D is terrific this year for the most part. I have fully bought in to the upgrade at Corner. Myles Purchase is steady like Brian Peavy. And TJ Tampa is starting to assert himself AS A GUY, he had a couple tips yesterday, forced that fumble out, and is playing with swagger finally.
- Isiah Lee is a better version of Ray Lima, he seems to stuff everything
- MJ Anderson (even though offsides on one play) is starting to show me sparks of talent
- Will McDonald is getting better at tipping passes, he had one or two yesterday in big time situations
- OL was pretty solid yesterday and above average. We had some runs where we got Jihrehl loose, this is a better OL than last year.
- the LBs are better than I guessed and Gerry Vaughn is a freaking stud.
- Jihrehl had some good runs on a tough D yesterday and had one just beautiful catch out of the backfield
- I'm so pumped for Hunter Dekkers, just a leader with swag, a big arm, and doesn't fear anything

BAD:
- To your point on Manning. I cannot disagree more. Dude we put up 300 yds plus on Iowa. How is that bad again? He didn't force the pick in the end zone or the fumble in the end zone. I think Manning has been good all year, and had above avg offense at Iowa State. I see no reason to switch this up, he's much better than Campbell (as an OC) by the way. Campbell gets wayyyy too married to up the middle runs the year he called plays.
- hard to nitpick in a loss. But so far this year Jaylin Noel has had output of 48 yds in two games. We need a secondary receiver to step up and make some more plays. The good news it is still very early in the season I have faith here.
- Punt return: stinks again and not much to say, I don't mind fair catching against an Iowa but Noel could have gotten a better return on a couple punt returns
- Dimitri Stanley had a tough go yesterday, has speed but just not in the right spots and had a drop. Try Greg Gaines later in the year if that continues or Jason Essex

Ugly:
- Yes, agree with your take on ST. The one field goal went about 15 feet that went in (what was that). And CANNOT have two blocked punts, probably more on the punter taking too many steps

***This win is absolutely huge though. Gives us some real momentum going into the Baylor game. Importantly too - this win helps so much in the Cyhawk game next season. There won't be the ominous cloud over the program of "oh they can't beat these guys". With Dekkers back we could easily start a streak on them. Ohhhhhhh I bet the tavern hawks are hung over today. ****
