I think the press conference was scheduled for that Monday days before the KSU game. I doubt the KSU game had any impact on the decision at all.

I believe this is true as well.

Could be. I have no idea whether it was or not, and admittedly, it's a necessary link in my causal chain of events. But the timing of the press conference, at least to me, was pretty suspect.

Are many of you to the point where you are openly rooting for Iowa State to lose??? That's sad.

I'm very happy we won at K-State...especially for the players, they deserved it. That win didn't and won't make or break McDermott.

Definitely will never reach that level. But I'm definitely at the point where I'm needing a reason (other than being a loyal Cyclone fan) to care about what happens with this team this upcoming season...

agree x 1000. Maybe if Ejim turns out like WJ and Phillips is Stinson v. 2.0.... then i'll start caring. But if that happened, I have full confidence that Mac would screw it up anyway.

I can see what you mean, but I really like that we had a highlight to the season and that Brackins has something positive to take away from the year.

And seriously, that win is one of the best highlights of the last 5 years. We needed it. We should always root for ISU to win. It isn't like we are going to get a better draft pick if we lose. (and that is a whole 'nother thing)

Nope, not there yet. Still want my Clones to win. In fact, that's what motivated this thread. But if you're asking if I would trade the K-State win for a coaching change RIGHT NOW? Absolutely, unequivocally, and without hesitation, yes. I'd trade this one W for all of the future W's I think it would mean. Hell, I'd trade it just for the hope of future W's.

I think if ISU would have lost badly it wouldn't have mattered. JP would have kept Greg regardless. Season was already lost at that point, beating K-State was meaningless in the grand scheme of things for the year, although I really enjoyed watching it.

I totally agree. The K-State game was great for ISU players and fans. Other than that it had no effect whatsoever.

For me it was the first game ever didnt know whether or not I wanted Iowa State to win.....because i know that JP would somehow see progress being made........after losing 20-21 consecutive games....and justify keeping mcdermott 1 more year.....which i don't really see after all these players have left...but apparently JP knows what hes doing....:biglaugh:
