No. Just no. We claim to be young every year. If that were true at some point we would become veteran. We never seem to do so according to some.

Comparing the team to past ISU teams is futile. No doubt this team would run circles around the 1978 team but this team is facing off players in today's game, not teams from 1978. The talent level and coaching versus our opponents is what's important. By and large last year we were outtalented, outcoached and outmanned. That doesn't look to change in the near future.

It is obviously impossible to accurately predict the success of a recruiting class but at least on paper this appears to just be more of the same.

We could whip the '93 team....bring them on.

Thought the real impact of a recruiting class takes two years. In 2015, look at the 2013 class to see how it goes.

But they did have coaches that developed them, something this staff has really struggled to accomplish. Not turning this into pro or anti any coach, but player development hasn't been our strongest asset the past couple years.

Bill Bleil can be blamed for a lot of that. Klenakis was a disaster. Now we hire Mangino and Blaney and expect them to put a solid group together in 6 months? Add in the injuries and a new scheme...

People want results NOW and I don't blame them, but you're being ignorant when you blame our current coaches for lack of player development.

And guys like Wally and Shane have developed players nicely. Keeping them on the team is an entire different issue. Coe and Irving could have been all conference last season.

The fish stinks from the head down. Funny that we have to keep saying that.

Well we were young last year on defense, and had new coaches on offense so there was everyone learning a new system.

The year before we had a lot of inexperience.

Both years we had a lot of injurys for whatever reason meaning even more inexperienced players and no chemistry.

But yeah if two years is "every year", then you're right. But I think you're just an idiot.

I'm most impressed with the fact that none of them have been kicked off of or left the team yet.

Kansas State and Texas are prime examples that recuiting rankings are so overrated.....in opposite ways of course

Disagree. Like Texas, Michigan has had great recruiting classes. It's really about player development. Coaching staffs get spoiled with talent and that talent will make up for, or even hide, coaching inadequacies. That is until their team plays a Boise St. where the level of coaching and development is exceptional.

Not trying to be a downer, but I'm reserving excitement about recruiting until I see results. It's not that I don't believe. It's that I don't trust. This class seems to be much better than anticipated given the circumstances, so hats off to the staff.

Listen, every year I get jacked up and this year is no different. Basketball has erased the stink of FB, I've forgiven the fb staff hoping CPR had refilled the tank and will lead us to some wins. I'm excited again, hopefully this lasts longer than week one....

Only question is, if this class is better (won't know for few years,I know) what the hell is the deal w previous years of recruiting?!?

Can I blame Paul Rhoads? Shouldn't it all come back to him as head coach anyway, as he prepares to enter year 7 with a 5-19 record over the past two seasons?

Our coaching staff was almost completely turned over a little over a year ago.

All this team needs is the OL to stay healthy so they can have chemistry and not a new lineup every week. And for Harris to be Wallys next great MLB. The rest WILL take care of itself if those two things happen.

Haters will try to deny it, but it's obvious the is from top to bottom the most talented Iowa State has ever been. Taller, stronger, and faster. Last year we were young and inexoerienced with a lot of new coaches on top of that. Everyone will do a better job this year.

The other thing that ISU needs is much better luck. The injuries and attrition over the last two years have been crippling, especially for a team that is never going to have great true depth. There isn't a team in the country that could have absorbed the number of starters injured or leaving that ISU had and continue on without missing a beat.

Bad luck is the perhaps the dumbest excuse for what ISU puts on the field. Sorry.

I was more impressed by how many high-level family relatives we got into the program.

What are we up to now? 2 Rhoads, 1 Leath, 1 Bergstrom.

Just because someone says it doesn't mean it is true or common. We have been young the last two years. 2013 primarily on offense, 2014 on defense. 2012 We had a Veteran team. That was our peak year, it didn't deliver as many had hoped but was a veteran team, 2011 a seasoned team. This is so stupid to not acknowledge big classes Maturing. Nobody can say we are young the next 2-3 years.

Someone needs to bookmark this quote because I can guarantee if this team starts losing next year, that will be the first excuse out of CPRs mouth.

We will have only 12 seniors on next years team. Does that make us old?
