While the mask debate rages in multiple states, athletic department leaders seem united that willingness to wear them could lead to greater stadium capacity. Whether that’s true remains to be seen. At this point, no state would allow even a half-full Power 5 stadium. The people who run college athletic departments hope that changes, but they need to be ready for multiple possibilities. So they continue to model different seating arrangements. They also are trying to troubleshoot in advance the issues that could arise from limited capacity.

I'll bet good money that come football season that the states of Texas and Alabama will be 50% or more capacity.

Not exactly sure.
In JTS, 30k people isn't 6 feet of social distancing. That's every other seat open... which leaves you with some extra leg and elbow room while breathing down the neck of the person in front of you.

Family units could sit together. So a family of four could be four consecutive.

Tickets aren't the main thing Jamie needs...the donations are going to be the bigger problem. Its significantly easier to weather losing a bunch of the upper deck corners...its a hell of a lot harder to stomach having to keep all of your suite seating and club levels closed or reduced seating.

ISU should give all the tickets to the students.
This would be a great gesture that unfortunately falls into the never gonna happen category. A more realistic option (that still falls into the not gonna happen category) is a buy one give one scenario. For every adult season ticket you buy, you buy/give a student's season ticket at a student discounted rate that the university will figure out how to distribute....still won't happen because of the buy in required by "donors", aka season ticket holders.

At some point, wouldn't you reach a certain number of people in a given area where social distancing doesn't really matter? And isn't that number significantly less than 30,000? I don't know that there is much difference between 30,000 and 60,000 in terms of potential virus spread, especially with the tailgaters...

I bet they're at 100%. Look at how things have changed in just a month. We have 3 more months before the games start.

I guess less people to spread it to? I'm with you though. If you're going to go at 50%, you just as well allow 100% if people are willing to come. I do think people will stay away to some extent, especially older people.

Isn't this the perfect time to switch to an auction type ticket system? Allow the highest bidders to get the tickets. Donations required to bid, no you don't get your donation back if you don't end up with tickets. Let the market sort out the price the tickets should be sold for, and who gets to go.

No matter what they do there are going to be pissed off fans. I don't see a way that very many if any can watch all home games in the stadium.

ISU at least should have a good product on the field, so demand will be high, not sure there is a more fair way to do it and let people determine what they are willing to spend.

Obviously something different will need to be done with student tickets.

If you're going to go 30k, might as well go 60k. You still have people being close in bathrooms, walking around, tailgating ect. Either have no fans or open up. Halfway isn't going to reduce it that much in my opinion unless they regulate when you enter, where you can go ect.

I've got some connections in the Iowa AD and they are thinking 50% capacity this fall. Obviously things can change but that's what is being discussed.
I'm hoping they get a waiver and pack it with 70,000 hoks for every game.

I think they will end up letting all fans in this fall. I think you will just see a lot of 50k attendances this fall.

Have to have someone monitoring bathroom numbers too maybe.
