"We're in the ACC. We're committed to the ACC," Spetman said. "That's where our president and the board of trustees has committed to, so we're great partners in the ACC."

(At this time.)

Spetman flatly refuted such accusations.

"I'm not out negotiating," he said.

AD's are low man on the pole when it comes to moves. Of course he's not out negotiating.

From Reddit.

"Florida State needs to decide if we're going to be in big-time athletics or not," Smith said after the meeting. "I think we've got the support to be in big-time athletics. I think we're structured wrong.

"Frankly, I hope this is a wake-up call," Smith added. "We have some very, very good coaches here. When they wake up and realize that they have less resources than these schools that are raising (their budgets) 15-20 percent a year, then they will be gone. You can't blame them for that."

A FSU fan said this is the same guy that spoke up about Bowden right before they split.

In case anyone was getting a warm and fuzzy about Texas, just a reminder that they are the real cause of all this mess...

Scout.com: Get ready for a total & cataclysmic meltdown from all Texas

Sure their will be three games on the LHN but at least two of those games will be OOC games. I see Wyoming, New Mexico and possibly ISU or Baylor. That would be the three games on there. Guess what I don't have a problem with that.

Texas Home games

9/1 Wyoming
9/8 New Mexico
10/6 West Virginia
10/20 Baylor
11/10 ISU
11/24 TCU

I disagree, Texas was never the problem. A&M, Nebraska, and Missouri didn't like the face that they had to play second fiddle so they left. Texas is rich and has power and they like to use it. Both teams have to agree to get anything on LHN.

Well, don't forget that Texas wasn't exactly crying about unequal revenue sharing for 15 years. Nebraska, UT, OU and A&M were all in favor of unequal revenue sharing from the beginning and that was a divisive mode that set a tone of "Haves and Have Nots" from the outset that was clearly unhealthy from a lot of angles. Texas basically killed Weiberg's plan for a Big12 Network and brought us their puppet in Dan Beebe. They are not innocent in all the Big12's dysfunction and problems.

I think A&M and Nebraska had some serious jealousy centered on UT's success that drove a lot of their emotional moves to get away from Texas - Nebraska's move to the BigTen makes sense from a number of angles but don't kid yourself. They were tired of losing to Texas and OU and being denied the BCS because of it; it helped that the money and stability of the BigTen as well as perceived competitive equality were also there.

There should only be one, having more than one drives down the value of the Big 12 package thus hurting all teams in the Big 12. This more than anything should prove we need a conference wide network.

It doesn't drive down the value of the Big 12 package, as ESPN has to buy or trade content from Fox to get the right to show more than 1 game on LHN. It does hurt the Big 12's TV ratings, however.

Look the way I understand it is Texas can only pick up games on Tier 3 if they pass Tier 1 and 2. So Okay ESPN says we don't want that game for Tier 1, then Fox has to come to the same assessment. If this happens by all means let Texas put that on the LHN. If Fox thinks the Texas game is going to bring more money their way they won't let the game get to Tier 3. So Wyoming, New Mexico and most likely ISU, are not exactly big drawing games, so I don't see how this is going to bring down the value of the Big 12 package.

As far as a conference wide network, it won't happen till LHN fails, and the only way for it to fail is to give it time to prove that it doesn't work. I don't think 2 OOC games that no one cares about, and one conference game will make the LHN. IMO

The rules have changed for 2012:

The new Fox agreement has contracted out every B12 conference game to be on TV. That means 2011 was the last year for a game like ISU-Missouri not to make it to TV.

How can the Horn network get a B12 conf game then? Two ways:

1. ABC/ESPN can use a Tier 1 pick to put on a Tier 3 network. Why would they do this? They believe its more valuable to use this as leverage to try to get cable companies to pick up the Horn network even though less eyeballs will watch the advertising on the game in the short run.
2. ABC can work out some sort of a deal with FOX to allow Big FOX to show a marquee game primetime in exchange for using a Tier 2 pick to show on the Horn Network.

This is where ESPN owning our Tier 1 rights and being in bed with one school is a conflict of interest. The Conference should get say in whether LHN can pick up a Conference game, or not and compensation should be provided for said use of the game, as the conference owns the rights. Unless the GOR is just a piece of paper that doesn't mean anything.

I am not sure it hurts the value of the conference, but it doesn't help ratings.

Pitt is suing the Big East so it can start play in the ACC in 2013-14. Just got the alert; no link yet.
