I would think that the forgotten 4 are for the expansion and wvu is pushing hard. I think Oklahoma is pushing hard against it. they used to being number 1 or 2. with all these new members they could feel threatened.

From Twitter (SIAP):

Who's who and where does Iowa State fall in that mix? I'm guessing we are one of the four school OK with expansion. I wonder who is pushing hard, both for and against.

Probably some school thinking they can gain some sort of power by acting like they're against it for a while. Or Baylor, just to be feisty.

Pitt & Louisville now serious contenders for 13 & 14. Geographic fit for Big 12 East.

Underwhelming. These rust-belt schools do not tap into the southern state recruiting base and do not drive a stake through the heart of the ACC. 1-2 years ago, I would have jumped for joy at this, but given the Big 12's newfound upper-hand, anything less than 4 powerful ACC schools just seems "blah".

Totally agree. The thought of Pitt in the Big 12 is pretty gross. Stay south, stay where the markets, fan base and recruits are.

Also, wtf Note Dame, please don't make your joining the Big 12 contingent on having Pitt come along for the ride. The idea makes me want to vomit.

Lets rape the ACC, burn their villages and be done with this.

I wouldn't be surprised if OSU was the member against. They've received enough donations that I don't think they will be building with the extra money. And, they've established themselves to be contenders and I don't know that a return to divisions will do them any good.

I would take Notre Dame, Pitt, FSU & Clemson...that would be pretty suite. You cant knock the value of Notre Dame. Notre Dame would have to be full member.

No, I think JP is content at 10. Really.
No, you're against it (you've made it clear you want the old Big 8 back) and you're just really hoping JP is as anti-progress as you are.

No... JP said he thought the best scenario for ISU was to stay at 10 on one out those Monday dinner things they have at applebees. ISU is either on the fence or the school against expansion, guarantee that

Hm.. are those 2 enough to make it worth going to 14 instead of 12?

Also, part of me says if you go 14 you might as well go up to 16... is pitt intended to entice ND to join up as #15?
my understanding is the TV gawds have already agreed to certain $$$s for 12 and 14 team league based on which schools big xii is actually able to add. Sort of an "A" list for top money, "B" for a little less, etc. More about what TV gawds think teams are worth to the advert/etc., deal than anything else. Why would anything else drive this??

I was thinking OSU also. Aren't they supposedly tethered to OU by law? So if this would happen to blow up they'd have a soft landing with the Sooners. I can't see us, KU, KSU, TCU, or Baylor being against it. The more powerful the conference, the better off those schools all are.

Or that's what you say in public when you're at 10. You say that you're content. It's the politically correct thing to do.

When we add teams, he'll say that he's happy to welcome them. There are certain things that you say no matter what your private opinion is.

Since JP is an enormously effective guy on the business end, there's no way he's privately against expansion. Either way, you say that you're content because that's just what you do. You don't stir up the hornet's nest by speaking recklessly.

Devil's Advocate: ND is a falling star in a state that's smack in the middle of Big Ten country and is growing slower than the US as a whole. Why not pick up a large state school in the football-crazed, recruit-rich, rapidly-growing south? Which would be the wiser choice 10-20 years down the road?

And Pitt? See above times 50. Barf.
