Is it just my perception that has changed, or has the media been much more silent about all the rumors this time around? With Nebraska and CU it was a sudden thing. With Missouri both times and A&M it was rumors for a long time, but rumors all over the media. Ditto with Big 12 South to the Pac 16 that never happened.

Deloss isn't giving Chip the inside scoop, Neinas and Slive (SEC?) are getting this all done in silence to stay ahead of the B1G. Thats my take. Many secondary internet types will speculate, actual media won't be able to corraborate and then it will be done. Or so I would like to think

IMHO the media has been pretty poor both times around. I think a lot of the east coast media tend to downplay what they dont want to happen this time around (they want the ACC to live), but they certainly had their faults last time around too. Remember when the media bought the SEC's invite non-denial of TAMU (even reporting it as rejecting them) hook line and sinker?

It could be that the media have a vested interest in seeing the ACC live, but it could be that, like us, they've learned to take everything with a grain of salt until you see a press conference with the commissioner and school president. Their reputation is at stake if they go about reporting on every wild rumor that gets floated around; that stuff is better left to bloggers and fans with twitter accounts.

To me, it's not the media silence that I find interesting; it's that the schools themselves are dead quiet...

The media has been positively awful in covering realignment. I mean, it's been just terrible. Nobody actually knows anything - which is semi-understandable given that there is a lot of misinformation put out there for political posturing - but worse, nobody seems to be trying to, you know, do journalism and stuff. It's just all speculation and re-tweeting each other.

It's only sports so the quality of the journalism doesn't get the scrutiny it deserves. But it's been appalling.

You see what you want to see on the media coverage.

-As I recall last time the main media outlets weren't on the first round of conference changes until weeks after message boards fired up about it
-The sources last time were leaking a lot more because everyone was playing each other and using the media to do it.
-The media likely has learned that they were getting used as they were wrong several times (remember the whole Big 12 south to the Pac 12 deal? That didn't really happen.)

You can see it as media bias if you want. I see it as one of two things, the media learned from the mistakes of their ****** reporting last time. Or alternatively since there aren't huge negotiations right now to save a conference/restructure revenue sharing etc the leaks aren't coming out because there is no rumors that needs to be spread to wheel and deal with.

While its not ESPN, 810 out of KC has been covering this pretty well on their talk shows. The interviews with the WV dude and Chadd Scott that covers the ACC have been pretty good.

I've been suspecting that's the case with me. It's only natural. Even if there is less coverage, it could be because this is much more like Pac 16 gigantic shift which made them all look like idiots.

This time I'm 100% Fox "I Want to Believe" Mulder.

I tuned into KXNO stream the last couple days to see if there was anything from an ISU slant. It's pretty obvious Murph and Andy are not fans of the realignment talk and I had to turn it off when it became 50% horse racing, Miller & Brinson had Chip on though which was interesting. Nothing really new for CF readers but still something.

Chadd Scott was one of the first out of the gate calling FSU to the Big 12 rumors ridiculous. Funny how things change.

Yes I remember how all the "experts" had given the B12 an eulogy and were kicking dirt on ISU's grave. Now when the B12 is looking to turn the tables in expansion it's all "doesn't make sense" and "I don't see how it will work" crap.

Yeah, yet it made sense to them when a basketball conference was going to be one of the "4 super conferences in football" and other conferences carving up Texas as they liked.

It makes more sense now, it's about football, money and greed, but it makes more sense.

Chip brown keeps saying that a source from the sec says that 14 is a mess and to stick at 12.

It seems to me that the other conferences might want to observe a 14 team SEC for awhile to get a sense of the challenges that come with a league that size.

Media is dumbfounded at what is happened. 90% of the media and world assumed and wanted the Big 12 to go away. It is VERY hard for them to accept that is not happening. In fact, many hang to the idea that Texas/OU would still leave at the drop of a hat if Pac allowed LHN. Even with GOR and additions like FSU/Clemson.

Did anyone read Chad Scott's article yesterday?? You will be stupider if you do. Basically his original position was he would more or less eat his own feces before FSU, Clemson or anyone left the ACC for the Big 12. Now that he sees the writing on the wall he writes an article about "where did I go wrong not seeing this move". His conclusion is that you can't account for stupid which is pretty much what he writes and accuses FSU and Clemson of being. Just REFUSES to accept the Big 12 is a stronger conference than the ACC.

Which is why yesterdays interview was so entertaining. He tries to defend his position and then gets real pissy when the WV guy is brought up.

I'm in the minority here, but, if we go to 16, I'd like to see BYU as one of them, provided they come with no conditions, which I think they would at that point. That would totally box out the PAC, and give us a recruiting presence in the west.

I'm not sure if Coast to Coast Hardware still exists, but they'd be a logical sponsor for the Big XII in that scenario.
