Interesting that it really didn't have a point that wasn't easily countered...

Right on.. That article seemed more like a hopeful reach and not convincing. We have sports writers like this in dsm but they write pieces like this for iowa and the big 10 conference.

i'll just add - i used my best facilitation skills to try and get something out of folks at the tailgate tour last night and what impressed me the most was how everyone used the same words (like it came from a ******) and how nothing of substance was said by anyone. their messages were -- we are so happy, it is all good, we need to walk slow, 10 teams are good, and if expansion with the right teams means more money for ISU, we are all for it.

Is this supposed to be something sexual?

ACC's Swofford Would Be Shocked & Disappointed if FSU, Clemson, & Miami Are Talking to Big 12 : Outkick The Coverage

Asked whether he was surprised by comments from TCU AD Chris del Conte this morning that the Big 12 "now has schools like Florida State, Clemson, and Miami (that) are trying to get in,", Swofford replied: "Yes, it would (surprise him.) I base that on talking to their presidents and their AD’s who have told me that there have been absolutely no contact or conversation with the Big 12. The Big 12 commissioner told me the same thing yesterday.

Always keep in mind that Oliver Luck and Chris del Conte are not members of the B12 yet.

What strikes me is this. With all the most reliable leaks seeming to come from the WV boards/bloggers it really does play into the 'no official contact with the Big 12'. I didn't realize that loophole until the last couple pages but it makes perfect since. You really help cover your legal basis by having someone not yet in the conference do your negotiating for you. I'm sure Ken Starr down in Waco gave a thorough legal review too. What an excellent loophole.

That's why Chip Brown has been used in the past by Texas (and still is of course). They can float whatever they want him to say his way and then deny anything about it.

What strikes me in this is that with all the reading I'm doing of WV fan blogs the Mountaineers are quickly becoming my second favorite team in the Big 12. Their fans seem like class acts. Gotta wait to see how they act during football season, but good first impression.
