IMO, the BE is in an even more perilous situation than the Big 12. They have teams that definitely are poachable. West Virginia, Louisville, Pitt and Cinci. The Conference is already not real strong as witnessed that the conference was won last year by an 8-5 UConn team that had a 5-2 conference record. The BE is in real danger of losing AQ status in the future IF they lose any of those 4 teams.

I thought it was quite funny that there have been posters that have suggested that the Big 12 will most likely lose AQ status if aTm goes to the SEC after losing kNU and CU. Nebraska has had limited success in the last 8-9 years. CU has been down during the same period. And aTm has not finished higher than 4th place IIRC.

Losing OU and OSU would definitely hurt. But the residual teams of Mizzou, TTech, KU, KSU, ISU, Baylor, and Texas is not that shabby. ALL of those teams have gone bowling recently. And several have been to BCS bowl games in the last few years. That is not really too shabby IMO. Sounds like Mizzou is not interested in the SEC. Pick up some quality schools like Louisville, Pitt, and Cinci. You have a pretty strong competitive conference top to bottom. Great in BB also.

I see WVU going to the SEC.

I think we need the super buyout(100 mill) and that will stop this. No Super confereces for anyone. The Big East would still have WVU, UConn, Rutgers, and S. Florida. The Big 12 would also be awesome in BB with those additions. This would be great all around.

No they won't - the SEC has to add someone because 13 members leaves the conference unbalanced. With Mizzou declining an SEC invite it appears the next heir apparent is WVU. By all indications WVU would accept the invite.

That would leave UConn, Syracuse, Rutgers, South Florida, and TCU. Add Villanova as they would likely make the jump to FBS and the Big East is a natural home for them. At that point they probably pursue ECU, UCF, and Houston, perhaps one more school, such as Temple, Tulsa, or Memphis. That gives the Big East a 10-team football conference that perhaps is strong enough to remain a BCS auto qualifier.

The state only has 2 million people though. Not exactly a real catch in terms of TV sets.

I don't think that logic applies to the SEC. They aren't trying to launch their own cable network(s) like the Big Ten or Pac-12, they are more or less trying to negotiate contracts on the strength of a national brand, not regional markets. Thus their two main criteria for adding schools would 1)ability to generate marquee match-ups and 2)cultural fit for the conference.

Did Ken Starr give up yet in his threat of lawsuits?

USF offers the SEC less than ISU offers the B1G. If the SEC ever adds another Florida team, that list begins and ends with Florida St.

And that is exactly why the SEC would take WVU even though they have fewer TV's.

If the Big 12 survives and it is the Big East and ACC that get blown apart, then USF is going to find it hard to find a home in one of the four conferences.

So who's "sources" on Rivals is correct:

TomDienhart Tom Dienhart by Hlas

Here is what I hear Big East could look like. West: K-St.; KU; U of L; Mizzou; TCU; Cin. East: USF; WVU; Pitt; Syra.; Rut; UConn.

I know this thread is mostly FB related but all the realignment stuff is making me sad that the Big 12 tourney in KC may come to a permanent end.

Come on Boomer, you can't seperat OU and OSU...
Div1:
OU
OSU
UT
TT
BU
ISU (I just think we are the least able to argue our spot since the east teams would negotiate that they stay together)

Div2:
KU
KSU
MU
Louie
Cin
Pitt

Any way you look at it, a couple teams are gonna look out of place.

This is just a guess by a person who doesn't know anything. My guess is if the people close to the situation think OU and UT are staying, that is more likely than the above.

Wasn't Boomer just quoting another Rivals guy? I am confused, I still think nothing is solved. Why wouldn't the presidents meet tomorrow if we knew what was up?

Did Ken Starr give up yet in his threat of lawsuits?

1. All Ken Starr is really interested in is keeping Baylor in a BCS conference. Holding A$M hostage holds the Big 12 together, at least temporarily. While they have long ties with them, as long as Baylor remains in a BCS conference they won't be too terribly upset if they go. And if the whole purpose of holding A$M hostage is to hold the Big 12 together, if the Big 12 is guaranteed to stay together, isn't the purpose of the lawsuit lost? If this expansion and death penalty go through, you probably see the lawsuit dropped.

2. Who says that Baylor's lawsuit isn't part of Texas' and Oklahoma's "noise", that, in fact, Baylor is in on it with them running interference in the media?

Big East-CUSA merger

Essentially. Although they may want to take caution with adding too many CUSA teams as it could water down the conference to the point where it's no longer worthy of a BCS auto qualifier. That being said, they're perilously close to that line as is.
