I don't like renaming the Big 12 to anything else. It has a huge national brand name and that's what people recognize. I'd rather name a division, Heartland, that is if we ever get back to 12.

People who are writing this crap about our debt do not know wuch about the change in ISU Athletic Department financing since JP got here. Our revenue without the new tier 2 Fox deal has grown from less than $30 million per year to over $45 million. Besides the general increase in revenue, the revenue to pay of the bonds for the improvements is the tier 3 rights with Learfield that will bring in over $50 million, with or without us being in the Big 12.

One person writes an article that is not factual and every blogger in the US starts ripping us for being finacially irresponsible!

Once again, it's because there is no positive PR coming out of ISU. There is nothing else for people to talk about when they want to talk about ISU because all they hear/read is bad stuff.

It's a national name that's hugely damaged and has a terrible reputation. Whenever people hear the name Big XII, all they think about is the instability. I think a name change would do the conference good.

Here will be our new logo after mergers are done:

B12 ----> B21
Same Name, Different Order, Same Brand.

or

BXII ----> BXXI
Same Brand, More Exes, Fewer Eyes

We definitely need fewer "I" 's

I propose we call the new conference the BM Conference. Because being a part of the BM Conference is the *****.

I don't mind Heartland.
If they do change the name it better not have a Number beside it. Too much change in the world for that. Not sure the heartland makes since if we have BYU or some big east teams, BUT the Name Big East doesnt' make sense with teams from texas and Florida either.....whatEver

Nor does the PAC?? conference when you have teams from Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, and possibly Kansas and Texas.

And Texas as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference. What a joke.

I like it, like someone said, the big xii name is tainted. If we madge it thru this the conf will need a huge marketing campaign to fix its image.

Classic misdirection from Aggieland. This guy, and that Biffhammer stuff in the other thread, are intentionally mucking the waters of this situation to make themselves feel better about lying to the rest of the Big XII.

Look, ISU is making investments in their physical infrastructure based on a long-term contract. This contract was signed by all ten members of the current Big XII, including A&M and OU. Additionally, all ten members of the current Big XII pledged just last year to a long-term commitment to the conference.

So who should we laugh and point fingers at? ISU, using bonds and the expected income from a signed contract to improve its facilities? Or A&M, who pledged their loyalty to the conference and signed that very same long term TV contract, who are now all whiny about the Longhorns and say "we didn't really mean what we said about commitment last year ... you guys understand, right? Right?"

This Aggieland doofus and Biffhammer say ISU is the chump. I think any reasonable person would beg to differ.

Deaton is speaking to #Mizzou Alumni group RT @MikelGarrett Brady Deaton mentioned possible name change from Big 12 to Heartland Conference

I love this idea - it's similar to what happened to the Big East when Virginia Tech, Miami and Boston College left. This would get all the other conference members on the same page for revenue sharing, while keeping their auto-BCS bid. A fresh start is what all the Big 12 members need at this point.

NO Big XII Conference would mean NO TV Contracts. Not a good option IMO.

Any negative image of the Big XII would be more than offset by a commitment by those staying along with heavy exit fees to promote stability.

IMO, OU will stay as long as they get a cut of the LHN. This is all about $$$$ and the ability of OU to extort some money from the UT Money Tree of the LHN.

Funny to me some say A&M to SEC is only about money. See the crowd & atmosphere last night at MSU? You don't get that at Iowa State. #mysa
