I thought they should have gotten rid of Beebe last year during that whole debacle, he obviously has done a crappy job of running the conference. Any regular person would have been fired for that big of a screw-up. You shouldn't lose two teams from your conference, especially one of the best footbal teams in Nebraska, and keep your job. I know people have said that Beebe has done a great job in keeping the conference together, and the gave him praise for the television deal. Guess what, the conference would have never lost members with a better commissioner and now we lost A&M. Plus he didn't have anything to do with the TV deal, the big 12 would have gotten a new deal regardless of who the president was because their contract was up.
Luckily it hasn't been said 2,248,358 times...Beebe can only do what the school Presidents allow him to do.

If four 16 team super conferences come to pass it will probably shake out like this-

Mizzou would be attractive geographically and TVgraphically to Pac 16, SEC, Big 10. Mizzou would prefer Big 10 but would settle for the other 2. OK, Okie State, KU go to Pac 16. Anyone who thinks KU and K State are tied together is nuts since together they bring no additional revenue since they are both in a small state. (Same reason why Big Ten will never consider ISU)

BYU has no choice but to remain Indy as long as the social politics of the liberal Pac 16 schools keep them out. Due to greed, arrogance, stubbornness and the desire to have their own TV network Notre Dame and Texas remain and go Indy.

The Big Ten and SEC cherry pick the current ACC and Big East to get to 16. The leftover 16 form the East Coast Conference, which would easily be the weakest of the 4.

This leaves ISU, Baylor and K State and Texas Tech in limbo. The East Coast conference won't want any of them due to geography and no TV's. A team like East Carolina would more likely to get included due to geography if the East needed an extra team.

Perhaps the remnants could poach a few of the stronger MAC, CUSA, MW, and Sunbelt teams and form a new conference. It wouldn't get a very lucrative TV contract but ISU could be competitive in it. If another BCS game is added an auto bid may be thrown as a bone by the super 64. Also the Indy's may need to fill their October and November schedules if the super 64 teams are playing 9 conference games. Might be able to get home and home with BYU or a 2 for 1 with Texas and Notre Dame. Each school and the conference as a whole would have to think outside the box for marketing and promotion. AS long as there are 32 bowls there could be some opportunities get some good destinations contracted.

ISU would be vastly better off all around in a Super 16 conference, but in the likely event it doesn't happen there may be other options for the teams left out than just joining the current MAC, CUSA, MW, or Sunbelt.

Please look before you post...that has already been posted. West coast writer as well with vested interest in the P12. Mostly garbage IMO.

Also...Tim Brando is an SEC guy....he was fishing with Pinkel. Pinkel should know better but he's stuck his foot in his mouth many times before.

Hilarious in a 6,000+ post thread!:twitcy:

I deleted it. Sorry. It's hard wading through 6200 posts.

You are wrong about Pinkel though. Seems you're nothing more than a smart-mouthed hater. Pinkel only said what pretty much everyone in the Big 12 is thinking. He was the only coach that showed any chutzpah at the Big 12 meetings, and the only coach doing so now.

I learned all I need to know about Pinkel after he cried when he lost in Ames during McCarney's last year.

I didn't know his job was to talk about the business side of the conference. I thought he was supposed to coach.

Why would Mizzou go to the pac 12 or even Ku? That does not make any sense. I am getting the feeling that everyone is starting to protect their own *** about the big twelve conference time will only tell. Iowa State will live to play another day.

I fixed it. cause I dont think OU/Texas will allow Houston in

Big XII West

OU
Texas
OSU
Tech
Baylor
KU
KSU
New Mexico ( yes they are weak but the new league can absorb the hit, Big new market)

Big XII East

ISU
Missouri
Pit
WVU
Louisville
Cinci
Syracuse
Rutgers

You can make permanent cc rivialry games to ensure the former Big XII schools still have Texas access ( ISU vs Baylor, Missouri vs Texas/Tech) etch

Since TCU is becoming a Big East member next year, they will be in before the likes of New Mexico and Houston. The B12 will not add any current non-AQ schools except for BYU and TCU.

Because Oklahoma and Okie State did and Texas went Indy causing the Big 12 to cease to exist?

I have no problem with what pinkel said? he was asked a question and really seemed like he tried to brush it off? No harm no foul there. And he's right. It seems like the big 12 commish has no backbone and no leadership ability. We should have kicked out texas when the kicken was good.

OU's prez finally speaks....

TravHaney Travis Haney
Boren: "I hoped we had stability." Says he wishes Big 12 stayed intact. "Disappointed Texas A&M left." Says he tried to prevent it.

Boren says goal would be to "eventually" get back to 12. But hinges on unknown variables (superconferences, etc.)

TravHaney Travis Haney
Boren: "I do not know with certainty what our final decision will be. ... There's no school in the Big 12 more active than we are."

OU Prez Boren IS talking. "It's too early yet to know" what's going to happen. Having conversations with other Big 12 schools.

The athletes will tell you the time zone change blows.

And you can't just compare to the south. You lose your shortest rides (KU, KSU) and your shortest becomes Mizzou (5 hour bus ride). Now instead of Wednesday night busing down to Lawrence, you're flying to Louisville. Our game were scheduled in a way that hopefully left the athletes travelling short distances during the week when they're in class. Not possible in the above.

Well, sorry to break it to you but without adding a team that brings nothing, traveling will change. I certainly hope we aren't making decisions based on traveling.

Boren: Decision about Big 12 could come as early as Mon, no later than mid-Sept. This will move "swiftly," as Stoops said.
