Found out why OU and aTm want a bigger sports budget to compete with UT. UTY is only school with two athletic directors - one for men and one for women. Where's that old pirate symbol?

List of Division I athletic directors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Look at some of the AD names: UT is De-loss Dodds and Christine Plonsky; Mark Rhoads for Houston; Bill the Thrill Byrne ex Nebraska for aTm; Tom Holmoe for BYU; Chris Del Conte for TCU; Steve Pederson ex-Nebraska for Pitt; Gene Smith ex-ISU for OhSU; Joe Castigione for OU; Mike Holder for OkSU; Bubba Cunningham for Tulsa; Mike Thomas for Cincinnati; Oliver Luck for WVU; Kirby Hocutt from TT; Ian McCaw from Baylor; RC Johnson from Memphis; Cary Groth from Nevada; Paul Krebs from UNM; Dr Sheanon Zenger from KU; John Currie from KSU; Sandy Hatfield-Clubb from Drake; Gene Bleymeir from Boise State; Doug Woolard from USF; and Keith Tribble from UCF.

Some of these people seem to have stage names out of Hollywood. No wonder things are a mess.

No board members responded to interview requests on Wednesday. But three sources closely aligned with the board or the university said that the curators’ prime concern is a Big 12 exit fee of as much as $40 million.
“If it were just a matter of saying let’s go, say goodbye Big 12 and join the SEC,” one source said. “If there was no litigation or a few dollars involved, it would be an easy choice.

Big 12 would definitely keep the market due to KU and KSU. But, SEC would also claim it, too. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Yeah because there are so many SEC fans in Kansas City??? Kansas City is a Chiefs and Jayhawks town.

If Mizzou goes to the SEC, the networks will likely give 1/2 of the coverage in KC to the SEC - much like the Big 10 has succeeded in getting about 1/2 of the coverage in St. Louis.

The big10 gets very little coverage in the STL. Kc would given even less to the sec.

Totally disagree. Mizzou support is very strong here. The Jayhawks are probably the top school in the market for bball season, but Mizzou is as strong as anyone in the fall.

.... And with each year of bad Chiefs football, I think the colleges get more and more attention.

If the NBA all stars decide to play in Europe due to lockout, college ball will be big this year.

Tennessee AD: SEC will expand beyond 13 teams | wbir.com

Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart says the Southeastern Conference will expand again and officials at each school need to have a number of frank discussions before moving forward.

Hart says the addition of Texas A&M as the SEC's 13th team was a good one, but the league's leaders must take their next steps deliberately because the SEC will expand again. He says those conversations will take place "in short order."

The SEC announced Sunday that Texas A&M will join the conference in July after leaving the Big 12. SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said later in the week that the league's presidents and chancellors are not currently considering any other schools for admission and that he anticipates having no additional members for the 2012-13 season.

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said later in the week that the league's presidents and chancellors are not currently considering any other schools for admission and that he anticipates having no additional members for the 2012-13 season.

But I thought Slive just said THIS WEEK that the SEC was happy with the present 13 team alignment and was planning on making schedules for next year as a 13 team league.

You mean he was lying??? Couldn't be...

Isn't it bad that whenever the college presidents and commissioners of the US say something today, we automatically assume they are lying because all they do is lie and backstab each other...I'm just waiting for this statement to come out in a few years...

“The SEC presidents and chancellors met today and reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 57 team institutional alignment,” Bernie Machen of Florida, the chairman of the SEC presidents, said. “We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league. We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion. No action was taken with respect to any institution including the University of Dubai."
