The Red Scare would've been fun. I've had political science professors tell me that looking back on it they feel like real pansies

"In the event of a nuclear alert during school hours, all children should crawl under their desks...

Yeahhhhh...that would've worked reeeeeeeeally well...

Sports-wise: Watch Notre Dame break UCLA's winning streak

Others: Kitty Hawk
Berlin Wall falling (I'm old enough to remember this, but after some history lessons and realization of what that meant, I would have loved to have been there)

Man, I think the 60's were fascinating. I don't know if I'd want to live in the 60's, but I find it amazing that 50 years ago civil rights were being fought over. Plus Vietnam. And the Kennedy killings (both RFK and JFK) and Martin Luther King Jr's killing.

Add in the Space Race---which I would have loved to have seen---it still amazes me that in the 60's and 70's they were able to put people on the moon without the benefit of computers like we think of today.

Then you would also have the cultural stuff. The Beatles and Elvis.

what do you mean by Pink Floyd in hay day?

I was born in 80, I saw Pink Floyd live in Ames 94 North American tour with my family.
pretty packed stadium. The kickoff of the tour was live on tv.

Somewhere around the release of the 'Piper' would have been interesting. That's well before 1994.

Music:
A fly on the wall when Dylan and the Beatles had their supposed meeting in the hotel room.
Tom Waits around Rain Dogs.
Hendrix.

Sports: Owens in Berlin. I don't know if there's ever been a better metaphorical finger in the face of so many wrong things.

Culturally: All decades up until when I was born.

One thing I think hasn't been listed is some of the great heavyweight boxers in history. Boxing has lost it's luster. Now, outside of Mayweather there isn't much to watch that is a true spectacle. Some of you might remember the last days of Mike Tyson but watching that guy walk to the ring wearing all black with a hole cut in a towel for a robe and absolutely destroying some of the best heavyweights in history was something many of you definitely missed out on. That was one bad man. Not to mention Foreman, Ali, Frazier, Liston, etc. and even the Hagler, Leonard, Hearns fights. Boxing used to be something much different than it is today.

Whoa, I'm a huge Tyson fan but he didn't beat anyone worth a crap on his rise to the top. He's quite a ways down the list of GOAT in the ring when it comes to heavyweights.

To answer the OP, I would have liked to see baseball in the days of the negro leagues. Would be awesome to see Satchel Paige or Josh Gibson on the diamond after reading and hearing so much about them.

I would have loved to see Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin in concert live in their hay day. Unfortunately I was born in 82, so I missed that boat.

I have a bootleg on disc of Pink Floyd at the old Boston Garden from June of '76. It's so great, they do a full DSOTM and most of Wish You Were Here and Echoes. Also, they do Dogs and Sheep from Animals but it's before they recorded Animals and they have their old names, Raving and Drooling and You've Got to Be Crazy (with the old lyrics).

If I could go back in time and do one thing I'd go to that concert.

If I were to do a Hendrix show, it would be at the Col Ballroom in Davenport - 8/11/68.

That's a tiny venue. Would have been an "Experience" - and I grew up in the region.

I would like to have been one of the guys to sign the Declaration of Independence or dump some tea in the harbor.

I'm not saying I would have liked have the wrath of King George on me, but :twitcy:

This might be controversial, but I don't care.

I would have liked to witness the birth, life, and death of Jesus. And I'm not really religious at all. But just knowing what actually happened would be fascinating. Seeing what details were fudged by the writers of the bible or just completely made up.

Sorry, please don't send this to the cave on my account.

Do you speak Aramaic? Because if not you'd be hard pressed.

The VEISHEA riots. I was at home sleeping as I had to open up Beyer and State in the morning.

I got arrested the week before (Comp Sci building was being built and we decided to play hide-and-seek in the construction. There was some vandalism the prior week and cops were staking it out. I was the slowest and got caught). So, I was there but luckily stayed out of it. This was the first one in 88 that was benign compared to the following ones.

As for what I wish I were around to experience:

Dinosaurs

That didn't work out so well at Jurassic Park...
