Can’t blame Prohm for missed FT’s in a single game but we can look at the overall picture. Prohm is now 17-22 in games decided by 6 points or less, we only scored 2 points in the last 5 minutes today, and only scored 4 points in the last 3 minutes at Baylor. Clearly struggling in close games.

Losing close games tends to manifest from teams that don’t consistently play good defense and rebound. I think Hoiberg was something like 32-26 in games decided by 6 or less or OT, but better than I thought after the first year.

Prohm just got schooled by BRUCE WEBBER!! In Hilton. Let that sink in. The same guy that got run in Illinois and is on the hot seat every year in Manhatten. He is a great recruiter but this team has no leadership from the coach on down. I think the core group of freshmen are the leaders. Babb acts like he has lost his puppy and is supposed to be the senior point guard. Wiggy does not fit in at present. Prohm has to settle on what his rotation amounts to fast.

They went to an Elite Eight last year, expected to do well in conference this year, and looked like a team that might do that today.

Prohm hasn't found the right screws to turn with this team early in conference play. His track record so far says ISU will improve over the course of the season.

Every team s different. Whatever means Prohm is using to motivate these guys is not paying rewards at the moment.

Can someone explain to me how a team that traditionally finished 2-16, has the worst fanbase in the most deserted wasteland in United States, and lost 4 out of its 5 starters from an Elite 8 team can reload with one of the best teams in the country, but we cant even continue with where we left off with Hoiberg even though we were one of the premier teams in the Big 12 at the time?

Makes no sense.

Because they have an elite coach.

That brings a little perspective. It's like they say, "That's why they play the games."

But that's only partial comfort. Today, I want to respond, "But why did we have to play THIS game?" ;)

Today was more of the same from Baylor so adds to the frustration. Wiggs hits that 3 and it's a very different feeling, but things have hardly been smooth this week.

I look at the bigger picture. There are problems with this team and Prohm. You can tell guys aren't comfortable with the minutes or shots they are getting. The lack of offensive adjustments to basic m2m defense is very concerning. Baylor barely played its zone against us!

Even if we pull this one out today, we didn't deserve it. And ultimately since the season is judged by wins and losses, yes, it's concerning we cant close out games with a late lead.

From The Gazette: “He played great,” Prohm said of Conditt. “He was terrific for us. I went offense for defense at the end and I probably should’ve stayed true to defense because George protects the rim.”

An issue I have here is it's not like Conditt was bad for the offense today. As a matter of fact his ability to rim run opened some things up I thought.

Wade DID take him in off the perimeter to close the lead but that was more of a developed play and not in the waning moments.

Basically when good things are happening, take a look at who's on the floor, and keep it that way.

Testifying
The defense was pretty good today. KState really struggled with the shot clock.
Our guards were hanging around the 3pt line with their backs to the rim too much tonight to get offense going. We seemed flat and sloppy tonight. I’m not jumping to conclusions yet on any coach or player, I’m going to stay optimistic that we can get it going again.

What we learned today was that as Shayok goes, so goes the team. We don’t have any players capable of filling the gap if Shayok isn’t the leading scorer and/or is having a subpar game. The team looked tired to me while appearing to play without passion and/or leadership for at least 30 minutes of that 40 minute game. One thing that sticks in my craw is the halfhearted free throw efforts and undeniably bad body language exhibited by some of our players. After reviewing the game on tape, I found it interesting that the commentators suggested ISU home games must be handled like an epic event in terms of effort, energy, planning and play. Basically, a winner never allows himself or his team to get beat at home! No one every condemns a team or player that leaves it all out on the floor. Yes, the referees made a number of inconsistent and bad calls, but this loss was all on the players and coaches. That said, Conditt’s play was absolutely a breath of fresh air!

Not weighing in either way, but if a good part of the fans can't tell if he's good by now....

Then maybe there's a problem. Or we can go all ISU and just blame the refs for everything. Whatever makes us feel good
To be fair, CF is about the worst place to get opinions on coaching. Most of CF thought Scott Drew was a hapless moron while this place was full of idiots that thought Trent Johnson was a really good coach.
