Thomas should not have been starting over Morris

Thomas should be starting. Why play your best two pg's together the entire game? When would Kane get a rest?

When you put Thomas in? We play with Morris and Kane together all the time and it has been our most effective lineup the past couple games.

I don't care about when he plays, but he needs to up his production. We operate with a 7 man rotation, so him not performing really hurts. This game was a perfect chance to step up, and his presence was hardly noticed.

(I think) that fast break today was the final straw. You know, the 3-on-2 one where MT was the right wing and had the pass bounce off his shoulder because he wasn't even looking for the ******* ball. That **** was embarrassing.
prolly need to bench Ejim for letting a ball hit him in the hands and lose it of bounds. Or Kane for dribbling a ball out of bounds near halfcourt. Or Niang for bouncing another ball off his leg out of bounds.

In before "But they scored"

Don't care. Do I wish MT was hitting more shots? Sure. But most logical people expect true freshman to be inconsistent - notably on the road in big games.

He played 12 minutes but the trolls only focus on the starting lineup and not actual minutes played.

Last I checked Fred has this team in the top 10, just one loss and a better W/L record than any of you could ever dream of doing.

Doesn't matter who starts, the most important thing is who finishes and the number of minutes. Obviously my opinion, but I think Naz is currently better than Thomas and brings everything Thomas has plus plays better defense. If Fred makes a change it should be for Naz at the 2, not Morris and shift Kane to the 2. Thomas can start as many games as he wants but if he's struggling and having an off day, he probably shouldn't play in crunch time (he didn't today).

Most logical people expect inconsistent players on Top 10 basketball teams to take a seat on the bench. As far as I'm concerned, MT should come in when Naz fouls out.

I've been in Matt's corner when it comes to starting because I thought he could pull himself out of whatever funk he is in. It's not working.

However, I don't think you start Monte in place of him. I think you start Naz and bring Matt in off the bench. Monte works well the way he is being used......to replace Kane at the point, or share it with him so Kane can post up more inside. IMO, Monte is not a 2 at all really. Naz is, and he should take Matt's place starting, at least for a few games.

Maybe if the pressure or whatever is off Matt a bit he won't be pressing so much and he can come in off the bench, shine and get his confidence back. At this point, I don't see what it would hurt to try. Right now, he is starting, getting pulled early, and playing only 12-15 minutes a game. That is not doing anything for his confidence anyway. Time to try something different.

Lets not act like Thomas is bad from 3. Still 10th in the Big 12 in 3 point percentage coming into today. I just wish he would shoot more sometimes.

- 12 minutes played today
- minutes played > starting lineup
- your opinion is meaningless
- this dead horse has been beaten enough

ISUFan22 I mostly agree with you, but you are quite a ****** when someone doesn't agree with your opinion or doesn't see eye to eye.

Why don't all the experts on here get together and go to Fred and tell him he does not know what he is doing with his starting line-up. They seem to know much more about talent the he does.

To the people that say it doesn't matter who starts. Yes it does. If you want to get off to a good start, have your best players in.
I love MT. I'm glad he is at ISU. I think he will be a great player for us. But he needs to come off the bench. Like other poster mentioned, maybe he would play more relaxed.

Sometimes the stupid need slapped around a bit. :)

Ok, ok - fair enough. I should have tempered my postgame fan reaction expectations to our first loss. Thought everyone would more more level headed. Shame on me.
