As someone who is 6'-4.5" and 250, he makes me sad, and angry . . .

Actually, I'm pretty ****ing excited!

2 people mentioned that he needs to "improve his shot". He's 8-18 in his career from 3. I don't think he needs to improve his shot, he just needs to shoot it more (and at the right times). Something I am very confident Hoiberg will handle.

JR with 1.5 to play. Basically a repeat of the McKay situation unless NCAA grants a waiver. If ISU was called OU or KU, he would have a full two years to play.

You're probably right but Jon Rothstein of CBS sports said in a Dec 20 article that he would become eligible this coming December and would have 2 1/2 years of eligibility. Maybe that's if he gets the NCAA waiver.

I think he has 2.5 to play 1.5 (barring a waiver, which would take him to 2.5 to play 2).

He played last year as a FR and this year first semester, so two years of eligibility are used.

I'm excited for Monte!! Dude should have a lot of fun running the show with arguably more explosiveness than we have even this year!!

His game still reminds me of Doug Collins from back in the 1990-91 season at Iowa State.

Both about the same height, both built like LB's, both shoot left handed, and both can dunk like crazy. Obviously I think Burton is a bit better at dunking than Doug was though, but Doug was a really good dunker too.

Doug wasn't a bad player either.... averaged 14.3 pts per game in his senior year in 90-91 season. He's also infamous for creating the nickname "The Mayor" for Fred Hoiberg. Doug was fun to watch.... and I'm sure Deonte Burton will be as well.

Thanks, that makes sense.

When Fred is speechless after watching him dunk, and calls him a freak, that makes me very excited.

The statement re: improving his shot is based on what Fred said he needs to work on.
