From my blog...
With average Billybob-Hawkeye-fan walking around this week giving themselves more love than your run-of-the-mill inmate at Cell Block 4 after their “huge” win over Northwestern, it would be easy for Cyclone fans to be a little bitter. While the Hawks get to finish up with a couple of pretty easy games, we have a tough test against Colorado and then an all expenses paid trip to Lawrence to play the #4 Jayhawks.
I guess for me the part that really hurts is to think of the games against normally lesser opponents that we couldn’t get at the start of the year (Kent St./UNI/Toledo) and then seeing the way Nebraska has looked after playing us, one would think that if we had played the way we have the last 3 weeks all season that we would be sitting at 6-4 and bowl eligible right now. Of course it’s easier said than done, especially considering the time it takes to put in a new system with a new staff.
It would obviously be better to have a chance to go bowling this year, but if we can pull off a win against Colorado and at least be competitive in Lawrence, we should have some great momentum going into next year. Now if only we can figure out a way to knock those high and mighty Hawkeye fans down a peg or two…
