What surprises me is how Fred can’t get it together at Nebraska. I was reading the comments on their fan site and they are saying he is the worst coach ever, which is weird but funny. Lot of depressed people in Nebraska I guess.
You have to go back to World War II to find a coach with fewer wins in 2 year period at Nebraska. Fred is making history at Nebby. (And one of those wins was toe)

Even good coaches can have issues at different jobs, whether just due to bad luck and things spiraling out of control, a bad fit, etc.

Methinks that squad may have been coached by Otz and Monte Morris.
Prohm was quoted multiple time stating he didn't change anything that first year and let the players keep doing what they know.

At the time it seemed like a good idea. Looking back it was the first red flag that once Fred's guys were gone h would already be that far behind on making it his team.

At some point, we have to wonder how much of Fred and Prohm’s success came from TJ as all of this winning, toughness, and effort continue to show up.

Letting that team get run out of the building by Virginia in the tournament should have been a clue to everyone that Steve was not the answer. I gave him a lot of leeway but that was unforgivable.

I wanted TJ after Fred left, but glad TJ and crew are back now. I watched UNLV every chance I had when he coached there and saw a huge difference between his coached teams and Prohms coached teams and now we get too see it and it’s fun. Fundamentals, discipline and players playing for one another and communicating on the court on both ends.

I remember when we hired Otz that most people, including myself, were meh about him taking over. There were a lot of opinions out there that he could recruit but people were worried if he was a decent basketball mind. It turns out that Otz can coach very well. This roster has good players, but it's not a team with a ton of talent, and this team is tough and coached perfectly. I have not seen any ISU defenses like this before and it's great seeing a refreshing change. Holding the nation's highest PPG team to only 53 points is remarkable.

Steve Prohm never built a program. Steve Prohm didn’t seem to understand how to build a team. Prohm’s problem was that he is the type of Coach who inherits a well coached team with the many different types of players needed. Then he proceeds to get a collection of similar type players. Then rolls out a rack of balls and expects their collective talent to carry the team. Poor fundamentals. Poor team defense. Prohm made the mistake of staying. Coaches like Prohm néed to move every few years so their pitiful Coaching Style won’t catch up to them.

Prohm should have moved to Alabama when he had a chance.

I am so happy to be so wrong.
