If you don't think he brought in talent you are crazy. He knows how to recruit. ISU went to 3 bowls after he left, almost all of his players. Auburn won a NC after he left. Almost all of his players. he just can't win unless he has Cam Newton.

Gene Chizik was the best thing that ever happened to Paul Rhoads

I'm sure he'd love another shot at coaching here without Rhoads dictating his every decision. How a defensive coach that knows nothing about offense is going to tell an offensive coach that's a certified genius and a MENSA member how he's going to run his offense and what plays he's going to call is beyond me.

We hated Herman when he was here, now we love him and his Mensa mind. We hated Chizik, now he's God as a recruiter. Outlook is looking good for Rhoads whenever he leaves.

You and fans like you are why we reward coaches that don't win with lengthy contracts that are too expensive to buy out.

Can Tom Herman put together a good coaching staff and deal with staff turnover?
Can he successfully recruit high character 2* and 3* talent and coach them up?
Can he have a team prepared to play and convince them to put out the maximum effort it takes to compete against 4* and 5* guys they play against?
Is he really the offensive genius some people think he is?

If yes, hire him next year if he's still available
If not, keep looking

True, and we also don't love Herman. But such bs fits his agenda.

Interesting because several in this very thread are saying Herman should have a chance to coach this team without Rhoads in his way, yet I know I could dig up threads from 2011 that were glad to see him go. Probably from the same "which way is the wind blowing today" types.

Average at best. He had a great line to work with and did nothing with it. Light years better than mess though.

Look at Rhoads record with Chizik/McCarney players.

Thats the main thing more than who the coordinator was.

I agree CPR is the latest version of Coach Bud Moore formerly of the KU Jaysquawks...win the first few years with the other guys players and then lose big with your own recruited players......

His release was likely misguided hate away from the previously infallible CPR.
