Being mentioned for all the top Power-5 level jobs expected to open up next year. ISU hasn't been the same without him.

I think he's getting about as much as a first year coach at Iowa State could probably expect, so we'd have to open up the paycheck a little more for him.

I think he stays at Houston one more year unless a high-level job opens up.

On top of that, as a young coach, would it be worth leaving a 1.4 million dollar job for at a small program you know you can win at and if continued success occurs, get a great promotion, or, say, a 1.7 million dollar job at a big school where no coach, ever, has proven you can win there.

Would a 300k promotion for a couple years be the smart move in the long run

Houston is a better job than ISU. Better talent, easier opponents, and options for better job in a few years.
He will never come here

Not sure why he'd ever want to come back here after the way he was treated while he was here the first time. Of all people, he would know how difficult this job is.....he's got it way easier in Houston.

Our offense wasn't good with him either. We had a good defense those years.

Tired of seeing Tom Herman posts. He will never ever come to Isu...ever....!!!! Stop contemplating it. He's making almost as much at Houston..he's home...he will be winning 9-10 games every year and will prob get a top gig in few years.

IIRC, Herman didn't really have issues with Pollard or the Ath Dept overall; he had issues with Rhoads micro-managing him and keeping his fingers in the offense and stepping in when he shouldn't have been. If Rhoads is gone, that issue is gone as well. But I agree with someone else; is it worth it to leave Houston for a (relatively) small pay upgrade at a place that has historically struggled to win? With his access to recruits in Texas and the success he's having this year, he can easily stay at Houston for another 1-3 years, build a strong(er) resume and get a prime Power 5 job in a couple years.

Anyone that thinks Herman would come to ISU has a complete misunderstanding of reality
