Right, I agree. I was just trying to read between the lines. The poster's use of the word "complain" is just off. I think he's trying to say "it makes sense" Of course we can complain. But we can't we really blame.
Yeah, I think sometimes we forget that fans are supposed to be selfish and want "theirs". It is competition. Making sense isn't really what we're rooting for.

Losing commits that blow up have been going for decades. Ideally we start to be the ones stealing from mid P5s but whatever, recruiting is enough of a crapshoot to not care that much about it.

It is the immediate eligible in combo with NIL that is a killer. If unilateral talent flow starts to happen with proven college players, the reason to follow CFB is less. It is a threat to the idea that anything can happen in sports

Zach Petersen played as a true Freshman. One thing I have learned about recruiting from afar is that you just do not know how a kid is going to do. Some highly rated kids don't see the field much and transfer, and some of the kids play far above their ratings. Welcome aboard. I love Wayzata and Lake Minnetonka.

Rose and Zach had other D1 offers, this kid was going FCS. Jeezus take a pill.
Oh, so the crucial part of your original statement was “kids who didn’t have D1 offers”? Good of you to mention that.

Here you go, then. Without looking any further.

Iowa doesn’t have to be our measuring stick.

He was previously offered as a PWO, and was offered a scholarship the day before signing day. Not a top target but still someone the staff wanted. Walk ons can tend to get a scholarship a year or 3 down the road too.

Also wouldn’t be the first player to be good with little to no D1 interest.

I highly recommend people check out his senior highlights on Hudl. Absolutely destroyed kids and showed some serious closing speed for his size in my opinion. Granted it wasn't like big school in Texas competition but I think there definitely are tools to work with.

Could it be a little gamesmanship there. Offer a PWO on a guy the like as a sleeper which makes other schools shy about offering full. Then last minute flip to full offer and land it. Just sayin. That’s pretty slick.

This only works if you are competing against teams that don't trust their own evaluation of players. Otherwise another team offers first and you are playing catch up in the mind of the recruit.

I think an offer from SDSU is better then some of those low level D1 offers. Play on a better team and it isn't like some of the top teams in the Valley don't put guys in the NFL. Slow the roll before you say it was a dumb offer. The staff had to of seen something they liked.

I think there’s another Peterson brother and like always people are claiming he’s the best of the bunch.

I don't have a problem with this offer. I like it. I was just replying to the doosh that complained about to me how I compared it to how iowa turns kids like this into all conference players. He was butthurt I didn't talk about how ISU did the same, but most ISU kids were still non power 5 D1.
