Re: Top 5 Doors Songs

The Doors are the most overrated band ever. Everyone pretends like they like them when in all actuallity they were not that good of a band. They had a good front man who was controversial and brought attention to them. Otherwise there songs are not that good in my opinion. Zeplin would kick there *****.

I disagree. You may not like the band personally, but they had all of the pieces of a good band IMO. They had a great front man who could write, sing & entertain (if he wasn't too drunk/high that is - but who wasn't back then?), very unique sound & creativity (i.e. incorporating keyboard/organ sounds into rock n' roll and blues - not too common in the 60's/70's) and the band could play both slow and fast songs very well).

Also, the "Zeplin would kick there *****." statement kind of shows where you're coming from..... you're a Zep head. :) I like Zeplin too (Page & Plant rock), but I don't consider them to be the best band in the universe as you probably do. Also, Zeplin was a great English band and The Doors were a great American band - but completely different sounds.

I beg to differ. If you want noise, you have Led. If you want something innovative, the Doors were early before all the alternative bands. Jim Morrison was a poet and did not know it. The End had not been done before. The accolades never reached as high as other bands because Morrison was gone too soon. I knew immediately that Break on Through was a great song.

Frankly, there are many more overrated bands than the Doors.

This BMF guy must think this is a classic rock forum site.

On side note, Jethro Tull sucks.

Re: Top 5 Jethro Tull Songs

Anyone watch the Anthony Bourdain christmas special last week? Cracked me up at the end when he was eating dinner with Marky Ramone and they were slamming musicians like Jethro, Phish, Greatful dead. Was kind of funny.

Maybe we should start a top 5 Ramones songs thread. ;)

I like the Ramones, but this is the musical equivalent of an idiot making fun of a genius for being smart.

Besides, Marky isn't even a real Ramone. He was like the 3rd drummer or something like that. I think Tommy is the only original member still alive.

I've never been a fan of Tull but to each their own. They certainly had some talent, just wasn't/isn't my cup of tea.
