So that tornado in Indianola a few minutes ago... so it was MAYBE a mile north of our apartment! We could see the sky swirling hardcore, then I looked over my deck and BAM a tornado on ground!

One of the most gnarly sights in the world, isn't it? I saw my first, and only, tornado on the ground when I was 8, and I have been dying to see another one ever since.

I hate Chicago sometimes. You can't even see weather coming here - there's no horizon. And we never get any tornadoes. Lame.

This thread would be much better if it were titled, "So there I was... Minding my own business..."

We literally were! The sirens went off, but there was nothing about it on TV. So we went out to the deck and the clouds started swirling like nothing I have ever seen. We started to seriously think there would be a tornado so I sent the wife back in to check the TV again. Five seconds later I looked over my shoulder to the left and there it was!

Bad *** pics!

What direction from Indianola was the tornado??

I live in Norwalk but am gone for the weekend and I just want to make sure my house is still standing when I get home.
