I read that list of transfers and Isheem is the only one likely to move to a blue blood, right? The rest are all guys that were in a backup role that probably want a bigger role. So can someone help me understand why people are so quick to attribute this to NIL?

Guys like Edwards, Suttle, Scates, Horne, Anderson etc. are not being poached away by NIL money. Let's get real here people.

I liked the idea of the NIL in terms of getting NCAA football games back, as well as them being able to do things like sell their autograph. But there being no type of rules or regulations, and literally being able to pay players to attend a certain school is where it gets out of hand.
You wouldn't play for more money at a different school that offered?

Anderson and Horne would have been competing for starting jobs next year. Anderson played this year but mainly as a WR blocker. Horne filled in for Rose when he got hurt.

King was a starter this year until he got hurt against OU

How has this been working at the other schools? Have the kids primarily hit the transfer portal before or after the coaching change was announced?

With Young, King, and Amos all leaving, I wonder if there was friction with Broomfield as their position coach?

Why do you think it would even out?

If it is NIL related, which it may not be now, but it will be in the future, the talent flow will be unilateral. Some schools will be able to offer more in NIL than Iowa St's annual scholarship.
I don't know that it'll "even out", it's not even now. I just think there are going to be a lot more transfers every year in and out of every program.

I don't think boosters paying players through NIL to go to a school but not take a scholarship spot will be sustainable in the long run. Most players still want to see the field, especially if they have NFL aspirations. I don't see most players taking NIL money to be the 90th spot on a roster if they can get a scholarship and play somewhere else. I also don't see boosters giving $20k+ to players who never see the field. They'd rather give more $$ to get the star players than worry about getting a guy to be the 4th string middle linebacker. I could be wrong though.

If we get transfers in from other programs are we assuming they're coming here for the culture or to play for a winning program or because we have boosters that will pay more than Toledo or Coastal Carolina?

When they leave its because they're being paid. When HS kids commit somewhere else, they're being paid. Either want to come here and they're a stand up individual who helps the elderly cross the street ten times a day and want to live in that culture.
