Trent Condon could make an argument for 10 losses

I would rather have high expectations of this team and be disappointed than to have low expectations and be right

I like Trent Condon, I actually think he is the best "sports guy" in Central Iowa. But I heard this yesterday and i about drove my car off the road.

Wow, now that's not a hot take at all. We definitely got all those breaks against KU, KSU, WVU, TTU and Oregon when ISU won those games by a combined 144 points.

I'd say the only game where ISU got a break was TCU. Didn't start Duggan and the dropped pass that led to the amazing Rose INT. I'm not seeing a single break in the Baylor or OU wins. Played like absolute garbage against Baylor, but were simply the better team and eventually overcame the poor play to show it. The whole "catching OU and Rattler early" thing was just not true. He was every bit as good out of the gate as he was late in the season. The KSU game was weird, but OU lost to ISU early in the year and almost lost in CCG. It's a simple answer, ISU and OU were clearly better than the rest of the league.

I don't know what happens this season. If ISU goes 8-4 I'll be disappointed, but with the recruiting picking up and the best coaching staff in the country, no season, even this one with ALL those starters back, feels like "make or break" anymore. The idea of not enjoying an 8 or 9 win team as an ISU fan just seems ridiculous.

Winning only 3 games would truly be catastrophic and insane. According to SP+ we have at least a 99% chance to win EACH of KU, UNLV and UNI. If we want to talk odds, there's on a 3% chance we lost 1+ of those games. Then we would have to lose EVERY other game, all but one of which we're favored to win at least 63% of time (OU the obvious exception). Saying we'll lose 10 games is just outright dumb.

With all the hype, I don’t think it would be unreasonable to think a let down could happen, but a let down would probably be 9-3 this season? Every game is winnable, but if you go ahead and call OU a loss, as that’s our hardest game, I’ll hypothetically call Iowa a loss because I’ll never count that as a win until Campbell actually wins one, but then who else would be reasonable? TCU? I think Texas takes a step back with their coaching change. I’m not impressed with KSU and their coach like many others are for some reason. OSU lost a ton of talent.

Just looked. According to Power Ranking, Iowa had the 2nd easiest SOS of P5 teams in top 75 last year. Only USC had an easier schedule. It was also the 2nd easiest in the BIG, only Minnesota had an easier schedule (0.328 vs 0.362 for Iowa). Iowa State's SOS by comparison was 0.770.

It is a similar story for 2021. In top 40 only Ohio St. and Northwestern having an easier P5 SOS than Iowa.

The best comment with Trent and the Iowa guy was about Brody Brecht. The Iowa guy said he had a chance to actually pitch for the mighty Iowa baseball program next season.

Yeah. He throws 98. He could've been a top 3 round pick. Two of Iowa’s better pitchers went in the 11th and some later round. ****. He's going to be their stud from day one. ******* Iowa sports writers. They crack me up.

I don't know who Condon is, and he sounds like the kind of moron I don't need to know more about.

I mean, sure, there are wild scenarios like we lose the entire offense to a hand grenade accident, but you've gotta be a little bit thoughtful in putting things together.
Great. Now you've given me something to worry about.

You might want to look into the Brody story before you talk about it. Reason. He did not go in too 2 rounds is because he made it very well known he wanted a huge pay day in order for him to go pro this year. He will be a stud pitcher for Iowa. Anyone that argues that is clueless

The number of people who pretended to care about Iowa baseball is comical.

Not trying to sound like a Condin apologist by any means, because I do find myself reaching for the dial whenever I hear his voice come on the airwaves, but I am pretty sure he is not a UNI fan or alumnus. He is originally from Osage, IA and went to college in St. Cloud, MN. He is a big hockey fan, and hock-eye fan. I am from the Osage area originally, and it is hard to find Cyclone fans up and around those parts, just like anywhere else east of I-35 really.

Whole point of this was to say I don't think he's a Pantherhawk, but he's probably Panther before 'clone if that makes sense.
