If what you have quoted is true, it does not look good for us. It's possible that Gill has an attitude that ISU is worthless from his days at Nebraska. I don't know...

It's also possible that Gill told him flatly "no" because he's just not interested in taking another job right now.

Just because he's accepted an extension/raise, doesn't mean he won't jump ship. It just appears that Buffalo has made it a little more expensive for other schools to swoop in and snatch him away...

I have faith in JP with this process and know he won't take no for an answer so easily. Yes, ISU is a tough sell, but it IS the last BCS job available - which should have some appeal.

Like someone mentioned earlier, the idea of Boston College's coach is very intriguing. Not sure we'll land him (or Patterson that matter), but it doesn't hurt to try!

Why would the BC coach jump from that ship for Iowa State?

It's the Buffalo thing I'm having a hard time with. It just suggests that we have that low of a reputation. That is all. I feel that there are several other very good candidates out there, but if Gill was that set against ISU that he's come to this point quickly, there must be a reason, you know?
Are you surprised at all that we have a bad rep? We're off a 2-10 season with no real "Good" tradition and something like 97? years since we won any stake in our division, we ARE bad. We'll find the right coach, hopefully. All I can say is Im just ready for this to be done already.

Chizik has driven us into oblivion on the college football scene. Mac left this program as one that was more attractive to an outside coach than it is now.

Per Turner's agent, Pollard did talk to Gill.

Edit: or maybe not. He sounds like he doesn't know what's going on.

Turner Gill's attorney just made it sound like Gill had zero interest in any way shape or form. Wouldn't even entertain the thought, wouldn't even really talk to Jamie about it. This was an ABSOLUTE slap in the face, and anyone who thinks otherwise has their head up their hinds. Gill is laughing at the notion of even coming here... The guy just said Gill is ready to move on to bigger things than Buffalo, but isn't interested in ISU...

Well, ISU got the shaft again. What's new? At this point, I think ISU should consider hiring an interim coach (promote someone like Mike Pelton or Jay Rodgers). Wait until next year when there will hopefully be a bigger pool of candidates to choose from.

I'm not impressed with anyone that's left.

Absolutely not. That would be horrible for recruiting, consistency, etc.

I think you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Coaches pick their schools based on their career, what is best for their family, the town, the players, everything.

His lawyer even said it...he likes Buffalo, he has a daughter entering high school and he loves his players. I highly, highly doubt that he is thumbing his nose at us right now because of our "lack of prestige". Get a grip. Please.
