Good for Tyler. Guess we don't have to bring him up after today. Glad we also don't have to watch him score like 20 on us and not miss a shot. I hope Penny does well. Always thought he was a good dude.

You really live up to your username, huh?

He'll be another one of the "guys that got away" and we'll hear about every good game he has, even if it's against East Carolina.

Like who? Juiston is the only one I can think of and Rashad. Not guys we quit recruiting. Name a guy we just flat stopped recruiting that we bring up all the time

Good. He won't torch us at Baylor now. He had a strange recruitment. Everything pointed to him committing to us in the Fall, but something changed. I'm not sure if maybe the staff just wanted Haliburton more.

Either way, Memphis should be good fit for him. I can see him being a good player in the AAC.

I fully expect this thread to get bumped after an ISU loss next season, followed by a Fred/Prohm debate with some Eustachy gossip sprinkled in.

I'll get a jump on it now and conspire on what really went on in that locker room at the UAB game.

It will totally happen. Not the same way as Harris, but Amardi and Cook were both at Oregon and playing decent, and there was a good amount of chatter on here about it.

Haven't been concerned about this one.

Tyler may end up being a good player, but it could take a year or two.

Memphis fans think Penny is the savior of that program, and I just don't see it. Sure he might be able to land some recruits, but HS to D1 coaching is a HUGE gap.

Harris is probably going to put up good offensive numbers, but he would probably cause us a lot of exasperation on defensive end. Defense is hard when everybody on offense is 6 inches and 40 lbs larger than you.

We had some damn good talent evaluation going on there for awhile. We still do, but Fred was ahead of the curve when it came to guys like Georges, Kuz, and Dillon Brooks.
totally. If you go back and look at, I think our 2014 and 2015 offers, it is just littered with top end players and then a few guys who were 3 stars that blossomed in College like Kuz and Reid Travis.

Lomax (other Memphis 2018 PG originally committed to WSU) seems like a bulldog who can make up for his lack of size on defense. But I'm interested to see how two sub 6 foot guards in the same back court works out.

I think it's a huge gap from Going to high school to college. However, when it's a guy who competed at the highest level in college, played years in the NBA. He has a high basketball IQ. I don't think it's a normal situation. He has way more coaching experience than Fred did. He also seems to be getting some good recruits which in college is half the battle.

The argument will be that Prohm was a fool for cooling on him. "We should have taken him when we had the chance!!!!"

Just look at some peoples obsession with Darius McNeill's stats on a bad Cal team.

I'm not trying to put you down, but I wouldn't expect too much clarity from some on this board.

His time as a coach at the prep level will help him immensely on the Recruiting trail. He will bring in solid recruits regularly, there is no doubt about that. If he can coach them up to a contender, that remains to be seen.

i am interested to see how that works too. During recruiting in the fall the thought was Lomax and Harris would go to different schools for that very reason. Having a small back court would work better in a non P5 conference like the AAC rather than Big 12. Memphis is lacking talent right now so they will get the opportunity early to see if it'll work.
Good luck to Tyler as a Tiger, it'll be fun to see how he develops with Penny as a the coach.
