Very Highly rated recruit.
Recruitment list is beyond ISU oline typical. Impressive.
Now a senior, and not mentioned much.
Just wondering...

I wouldn't call an 87 composite very highly rated but he's gotten beat out and recruited over. He's practically only played ST since being here

Impressive list/offers.
NE, KS, OR, Stanford, ASU, CA, IL, Indiana, NDS, OSU, TCU, UCLA, UT, Duke....

We have had few, if any oline recruits (in recent history), that can match this level of interest..
Just sayin.... and wondering.

Tyler had three qualities that made him appealing. One, he was long. Two, he was athletic, moved his feet very well. And three, the reason that he got most of those offers (see Duke, Stanford, Cal…) was elite academics.

The problem was, while he moved extremely well, that was at 6’7” and around 250. Maybe that much.

It seems pretty apparent that, in adding 50+ pounds, he lost a step or three.

That happens with some guys. Similar thing happened with Grant Treiber. And Hayden Pauls.

I’m hoping it doesn’t happen with Kuol Kuol.

Personally, I’m just happy Tyler is a solid backup, and chose to stay for his final year, rather than portalling out.

Oh yeah. If you want to see a really impressive offer list, take a look at Will Tompkins’. He was still racking them up when he committed.

And no, he didn’t weigh 250 or 260 his senior year. He’ll be fine.

I'm a huge Tyler Maro fan. While I can't comment a whole lot on Tyler's athletic ability, I can't say enough about his character.

Tyler is a selfless young man who gives his time and attention to helping everyone else around him. In this era of trash talking and attention seeking athletes, Tyler just quietly puts in the hard work every day and places the team over himself. And he's an outstanding student in the classroom - already has his engineering degree.

In short, Tyler is the epitome of the culture that Matt Campbell has built, and I have no doubt he will go on to be extremely successful in life as a husband, father, and employee.

He’s not as good as other offensive lineman we have. Simple as that, no matter the offer list. Just sayin

Wait a minute, you mean these kids are more than just their ability to play football?

I have had my various criticisms of CMC over the years, but being a good human being, trying to help young men grow up and learn how to be good men, is something that goes far beyond football and makes me very proud that he is an Iowa State guy.

I don't know anything about Maro... but Clanton keeps talking about how he needs his guys to have a mean streak in them. So... someone might have all the measurables, etc... but if they don't have that killer attitude, it might not matter?

When speaking about Rutledge... Clanton said he wouldn't want to meet him in the hallway. That's what he likes.
