If he goes to the Zags, ok - that's basically a blue blood that kind of chokes a lot in the tournament when they go deep. Get a ton of good transfers.

But if this is Purdue or Tennessee? I mean come on that's a lateral move. PLUS he may get less shots at a place like Purdue or Tennessee to be The Guy. Woof these kids can get bad advice...... if he goes to Tennessee and never becomes a true NBA guy its a fair question to ask "well why the hell leave in the first place." Also, we went further in the Tourney than Tennessee did this season.
Purdue and Tennessee are not lateral moves, come on...

This isn’t hard to understand. The guy is a sellout who is clearly in it for the money. Who cares where he goes. Honestly, I hope he does horribly in basketball going forward. Not a Cyclone anymore.

I don’t love the dude, but I don’t hate him either. Even if he went to KU I wouldn’t hate him. I would still boo him but just from the “Lebron Decision” aspect. I would take him back if wherever he ends up doesn’t work out.

I don’t hate him as a person but I’m not going out of my way to see what he does. I’m just done with him as far as ISU athletics go.

I mean maybe from a basketball standpoint they are.
Right - and what kind of NIL deal can Zaga and Purdue offer that we can't? Purdue is an engineering school just like us, and Gonzaga has a tiny alumni base..

I don't know. Time will tell if it was a stupid move for him to leave or a smart move. The scale right now is tipping towards stupid move. I think he received horrible advice. If he received savvy guidance he would have landed somewhere already.

I figured a deal was already in place when he left just because of how abrupt it was.

Zaga is good but those other spots aren't crazy upgrades.

I don't know why anyone would want to play for Matt Painter. The guy's just not a good coach at all IMO.

Purdue was totally outplayed and outcoached by St. Peter's.

Maybe the worst coaching job of the Tourney this year.
Painter has a 194-115 record in the B1G. That's pretty good.

So was Kentucky. Think the same of them?

CF is glorious. First Scott Drew was a bad coach while Trent Johnson was a good coach. Now Painter is a bad coach.

Just so everyone knows 4/5 S16s and this past season there were 2 Purdue guys in the NBA combining to play a grand total of 23 games.

Lol I still understand the Trent Johnson thing. He was more highly thought of on this board than anywhere else in the country.

Remember: CF said TJ coached a team to not look like a tourney team but win two tourney games.

Historically Painter is very good by Purdue standards.
