Holy cow, I'm amazed how much people talk about someone who now only affects the team 2 possibly 3 games a yr. Didnt want to be here glad he's gone.

If he had transferred out of the conference, like to Tennessee, which IIRC was one of his final schools, he wouldn't be discussed nearly as much.

This is true. On the other hand, while it has been a long, long time, I also remember being 19, and some of the things that I thought were good ideas.
Hunter is due for another monster game like he did against LSU and Gonzaga. Hope it is not against us.

1. Tyrese is a DAWG defender, aggressive, tough gritty player that is a take for anyone in the country. He's a net positive assuming his attitude is not toxic, which does not appear to be an issue.

2. People make decisions based on opportunity. Based on the opportunity presented (NIL - Pay for Play) TH made a decision most likely as a result of someone in his camp feeding him info and pushing him out? There is no guarantee he's a NBA talent? Maybe yes maybe no?

3. ISU nor TX is a house of cards. Losing him hurt ISU's depth, experience and plan for 2022/2023. It helped TX in the same way it hurt ISU. Bottom line It's not a huge net gain or loss.

Tyrese will never say, but it would be interesting to know where he's more happy and where he feels more comfortable.

What makes you say that? Offensively he is as inconsistent as anyone. Could he go off? Absolutely, but the averages would say he’s good for one of those games a year and he did that vs Gonzaga.

Yeah, offensive Hunter is inconsistent. Like Gabe and Grill. I expect all 3 will have great games, good games, and bad games. All 3, from what I've seen, will play hard every game.

I mean yeah, Hunter is probably a top 10 defender in the country
I clearly didn't pay enough attention last season then. My memory of Hunter was having great feet, but also often getting burned by cheating too much for steals and teams caught on to it. When I thought of 'lockdown defender', I thought of Gabe.

We were definitely spoiled with 3 elite perimeter defenders last year.

Imagine if Tyrese had been more prolific his freshman year and left for the NBA. It would be cool to see him succeed. Are we hoping he learns a lesson because he left ISU for another conference team?

Except when he’s playing against us, it’s over. Enjoying his (potential) decline is a petty way to live.

There are guys that succeed in the NBA by being excellent defenders, and if Tyrese was 6’6” and/or had a freak wingspan, he’d have a punchers chance. In the modern NBA, at his size, he needs to be able to score to have a chance.
A nice way of saying he’s no Iverson.

No, he is not AI. He is more like a poor man’s Marcus Smart without acting skills
In addition to being 3” taller, Smart has a 6’9” wingspan (not to diminish Hunter’s defense, or the great season at ISU). Iverson could get buckets, but it would be fascinating to see how his game might translate to the pace-and-space switch-everything 3-point era.

AI would go to the line 60 times a game

Did a check in on our former star PG. His stat lines have been not so good since Beard got arrested

Shooting stats aren't listed but I did the math for you. Over the last 5 games hes shot 9-40 from the field(22%), and 4-19 from 3(17%)

His PPG and APG numbers are also down from last year, with the APG almost 2 assists per game

Our boy The Walking Bucket might want to figure out where they're located before calling himself that
Did he call himself that? Really? Link? Pretty immature if true.
