This site is full of people who think they would be a better AD/Coach than what we currently have, and it's hilarious to read. None of you would be close to what we have currently, so I suggest keeping your mouths shut. Jamie is an awesome AD and sticks up for our coaching staff. We are lucky to have an athletic director like Jamie.
This is flat out moronic. Like if you're an adult you should feel bad.

First he didn't just fall into his lap. Fred inquired about the opening the previous time (after Morgan) but JP initiated it when the job was open again. Second, it took some serious cajones to pull the trigger on that hire considering Fred's coaching experience. There are a hell of a lot of AD's who would have taken the safe route and found someone else; someone else who would have not worked out as well as Fred has.

By the way, both Chizik and McDermott were widely acclaimed as quality hires by sports writers around the country. Chizik was a homerun hire when it happened. There were a lot of people who didn't see what an asshat Chizik was going to turnout to be. There were a lot of people who didn't foresee that McDermott was going to struggle with coaching and keeping Big 12 talent.

while true they were considered both good hires at the time, the only thing that people will care about is there W's and L's...also the hiring of the football coach there is WAY more important than bball and Jamie's fball coaching hires have been average at best, with that said I hope JP is here for a long time!

JP is never going to Michigan, and it has nothing to do with the quality of AD he is at ISU. He'll never get the offer from Michigan because he's not a "Meechigan Man." If any Big 10 power was going to snatch him away it was Wisconsin, and they took a pass.

And I'm still not 100% sold Hoke is gone (still only 85-90%). All it takes is another idiotic "Meechigan Man" AD that wants to give the "Meechigan Man" coach one more year to get it right.

Not an attractive hire- hard sell to the institution and donors.
We see the upside -sure. Others don't care about the NCAA backstory- only that it happened.
Glad JP is is here - I like him very much but lets not pretend that other candidates are not better for Michigan. There are warts that detract.

Fire away

What you call warts, most people call honesty and integrity. I'm not too sure that would detract from his worth as a candidate, even at Michigan, a school that could really use some positive PR. That said, I hope everyone else does overlook his accomplishments and credentials, better for us.

Us now vs. us then isn't even comparable. Cyclone athletics, as a whole, are in better shape than ever, IMO. Donors believe in JP, fans believe in JP, coaches and athletes believe in JP.

Facility improvements and stadium renovation did not happen because he's mediocre at what he does...

Jeff Long has been a big name in Wolverine land since this all began a month ago, boosters are going to want a Michigan man to turn their ship around.

But yet their new university president is not a "Michigan man," with no previous ties to the school?
