When I was writing up my review of the keys to game on blog, I mentioned the walk out of the stadium and while there was the occasional fool, I was impressed with UNI fans. 95% of them were polite, didn't have an attitude, weren't talking smack, and were just happy with the win. In the past when we have lost at home to Iowa (or Nebraska for that matter), the walk to the car is almost worse than the loss. All the trash talking and arrogance from Iowa & NU fans is really a pain.

So while I don't like to congratulate an opponent, well done UNI fans, you showed a lot of class. Much more than your neighbor to the southeast.

I agree completely!!! Great fans. Your assessment of the SUI and Nebraska fans is right on target also.

As a UNI fan I would like to say that for the most part ISU fans were very good as well! Tailgating was great!!!!

don't really understand the UNI sucks comments walking about but I think they were pretty drunk and not in the majority.

I had to fight off- literally- four UNI guys who were practically assaulting an ISU girl walking by herself. I've never seen anything like it. She and the guys were walking opposite directions and I was riding up on my bike. As they got close to her, they started wolf-whistling, making really inappropriate comments, yelling things against ISU, and generally just being douchebags. She ignored them, but one of the guys ran his hand up her leg as he passed. She slapped it off and punched him in the shoulder, causing him to turn around and confront her, causing the others to stop and do the same. I yelled "screw UNI" just to get them to look at me, then inserted myself between them and the girl and stared the leg-guy down. They trash-talked, etc., but I just told them to keep on walking and leave the girl alone. Leg-guy threw a punch, but he was drunk and not too quick, so I just grabbed his arm and twisted him around. His buddies were smarter and realized that starting a brawl at the top of Center Drive was a bad idea with all the cops (and drunk ISU fans) around, so they grabbed him and left.

I've never been through anything like that before. I've never even seen Hawks or Huskers do anything like that (though I'm sure it happens). With the exception of those morons, all the UNI fans I saw were very nice, or at least neutral. There was no arrogance or trash-talking, even after the game. Good job, UNI!

Ok but you left out the good part where the chick was so impressed by your good deed that you went back to her place and made sweet love all night long. :biglaugh:

We had a few UNI fans sitting near us. They cheered for their team and were very respectable. My hat's off to them, would have never happened that way with the Suckeyes for Cornholers in town.

Totally agree... I actually after post-game tailgating for awhile noticed the number of UNI fans walking by without trash talking and were very much courteous and cordial. I actually took the opportunity to cross the intersection of 4th and Elwood to congratulate a group of UNI fans and expressed my appreciation for their showing of class act in victory. Strongly agree with JCLONED

Go Clones !

Threads like this amuse me. I applaud the recognition for polite fans.

But do the posters on this board really feel that ISU fans are different?

I've been to Kinnick when we've won. How many of you think ISU fan's weren't harassing Hawkeye fans?

How many think the same when we've beaten Nebraska?

Give me a break...
