I'll repeat, if we lose I will be "done" unless we have a bunch of sick guys. Losing to UNI at home with our best team in quite a few years...unacceptable. I have a lot going on and becoming un-invested in ISU basketball is easy for me. It's a defense mechanism.

Let me get this straight. If we (a team that hasn't sniffed the NCAA tournament for several years) lose to UNI (an NCAA tournament team last year that returns everybody), you will be "done"?

I just love fans like you. Don't let the door hit your *** on the way out.

UNI has no answer for Brackins and Gilstrap. The game will be competitive and close most of the way through, but ISU fans will NOT be sweating in the final couple minutes. We win in the 7-12 point range.

One thing we have shown is that if a team plays a physical game against us we tend to wilt. NW didn't have anyone to match up against Brackins and it didn't matter. We need to play tougher. The Big 12 is a physical league if we played like we did against NW we won't see the NIT.

Last year, UNI could not hit an open jumper to save their life and still almost won the game.

For UNI, this game will be about defense, and hitting our threes. Should be a good battle.

Well, we know going in Gilstrap won't be himself. He has bronchitis for goodness sake. I doubt Dendy will play and we may not have Brackins either as GMac said he was coming down with something yesterday.

A Warning for UNI Fans.............If you cant beat us aka ISU ...You can forget about beating the Creighton Bluejays!!!!!!

Welcome to second place UNI....quoting an anonymouse bluejay fan..

Um, Creighton is not looking good this year. Cyclones would take them to the woodshed.

MVC is a tough league. There isn't THAT much of a difference. Look at what Bradley did to Kansas a few years ago, Southern Illinois almost did, UNI has done to us, etc. Just a few examples. Veteran teams, great shooters, great defense.

Look at what Bradley did to Kansas...fair enough. Kansas lost to three Big XII teams that year, for what its worth. They also lost to Bucknell in the first round the year before that...but that sure doesnt mean the Patriot League is almost as good as the Big XII. These teams can come out and win some games, no doubt about that. I guess my point is they pride themselves on the wins when they happen, but they just wouldnt happen regularly if these teams played a power conference schedule. Sure, UNI beat Boston College...good win for them for sure. But know how many ACC teams will probably beat BC this year? Quite a few, I bet.

We could also use Northwestern for the sake of comparison - they had a decent season last year...wins versus Florida St, DePaul, Minnesota, @ Michigan St, Wisconsin, Ohio St, and @ Purdue. That would probably be an AWESOME accomplishment for an MVC team. Northwestern didnt even make the NCAAs.

Anyway, I agree with this sentiment of my fellow Cyclones. We need this game.

Yeah that's key, having it at home. I disagree that the Panthers would be 7th or 8th. The MVC is a tough league. There isn't THAT much of a difference. Top 7 conference.

CONFERENCE CENTRAL MEAN SIMPLE AVERAGE TEAMS

1 BIG EAST = 84.56 84.26 ( 1) 16
2 BIG 12 = 83.49 83.77 ( 2) 12
3 ATLANTIC COAST = 83.32 83.67 ( 3) 12
4 SOUTHEASTERN = 81.34 81.06 ( 4) 12
5 BIG TEN = 81.00 80.78 ( 5) 11
6 PACIFIC-10 = 79.47 79.43 ( 6) 10
7 MISSOURI VALLEY = 77.76 77.24 ( 8) 10

I think UNI is a lot better than Northwestern, but losing at home...I agree with you.

Texas, Kansas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa State. That is eight teams in the Big 12 that I believe are better than UNI. Which two of those do you think they are better than?

It is closer when you put it like that. Kansas State, for sure. Especially when seeing Dvision II (Yes, DIVISION TWO) Fort Hays State battle them real close right now. Oky State...too early to say, but as of right now it's close. Same with Oklahoma -- they lost to Houston, VCU, and San Diego.

Funny, but when I asked the question, I thought maybe Mizzou (haven't seen them, know they lost quite a bit from last year's team). Very skeptical with OU or OSU. Possible with KSU, although I think they are better than showing tonight (very good backcourt with Pullen and Clemente). At this point, I think I would put Iowa State in there before KSU. ISU has not beaten anyone yet and I believe there are still a lot of question marks with the Clones.

. . . UNI (an NCAA tournament team last year . . .
You keep saying that, but the MVC was a 1 bid only conference last year. Winning the regular season MVC conference title is more impressive than being one of 17 teams last year that went 0-1 in the tournament as the automatic bid representative of a 1 bid conference.

Alabama State was a tournament team last year too.

UNI got an at large bid to the tournament a few years ago when they finished 5th in the MVC.
