Pretty exciting season so far. My Big 12 bias makes the Texas, Kansas losses a little bit disappointing as I like the amount of respect the league is getting. That being said, I can never be too sad when Kansas loses and although I am not a huge Barnes hater, I won't lose any sleep over Texas' loss either. Kentucky looks to be the only truly unassailable team and I still feel that they will lose one or two this year. I'm not a fan of Vaughn, but whenever a #3 team gets knocked off by an unranked opponent it is an exciting affair. I do hope Kansas takes UNLV out behind the woodshed on the 4th, but either way what a ride so far and last night's victory was pretty exciting.

Can't wait for the conference slate to start. The Cyclones are poised to have a pretty special season and college basketball as a whole has been pretty exciting so far.

For all you haters, Vaughn had 21. Seems happy....

21 points on 21 shots... very efficient. Glad he didn't pick the Clones. A volume shooter like that would be a wrecking ball to the concept of Hoiball. Yikes.

If you think that was a great game you should watch ISU play sometime. Our SG doesn't need to take 21 shots to get 21 points

He scored 27 against Arkansas and only took 8 shots from the field.

BDJ = Gifted scorer
RV = Volume shooter

UNLV has no offense without Vaughn. He is relied on heavily to make plays. Wood isn't a 1v1 player.

KU has now lost games by 25 and 30 points. That is not mom's old KU

One thing that seems to be missing from the ongoing discussion about Rashad Vaughn is the fact that Fred Hoiberg and his staff went to the wall to recruit him. Whatever your opinion is of Vaughn as a player, keep in mind that CFH really wanted him to be a Cyclone.

Good for UNLV. Always glad to see one of the "elite" teams go down.

MW should get 3-4 ncaa tourney bids. UNLV will be one if they end up near the top of that league. Vaughn is a good talent who probably never was close to coming to ISU. If a kid only talks about his mentor and not his parents, he probably isn't coming to ISU.

ISU is bigger than 1 recruit now, if they don't sign here, move on to the next target.

This just shows how bad a coach Rice is. UNLV has the talent to be good, but they won't be.

And as for RV, he still would have been MUCH better off going to ISU. Nobody watches or cares about UNLV since they are out west and play in a horrible league. Plus ISU is a LOT better team, their coach is way better, and your basketball skills would improve a lot more at ISU.

Even if you are right and ISU was a perfect fit for the kid and he plays great in Ames he probably leaves after 1 season and if thats the case basicallly the long and short of it is you get exactly the same thing from him that BDJ gives you.

If i were Christian Wood i would be totally ******….. He leads the team in the upset win over Arizona in both points and rebounds, yet Vaughn gets all the pub. I mean seriously, even in the ESPN article they point out the key play in the game and Vaughns name is not listed…. But, he probably was the one talking the most, so he gets the pub!!!

I mean with all due respect - and I'm not hatin….

Wood 24 pts (10-17) 58% with 10 boards.
Vaughn 21 pts (9-21) 42% with 5 boards.

To me, Wood was the clear cut MVP of that game yet vaughns the one being hoisted up after the game and the one that ESPN is calling to get a phone interview. Everyone at UNLV was all happy about getting Vaughn and rightfully so. But Wood may end up being the better college and pro player. At 6'-10", super athletic, he was rated as the 40th best player in the nation.

I thought the same thing. Wood was the only one that kept them in the game while Vaughn was sitting on the bench. I think all the focus on Vaughn by ESPN is because they always have a hard-on for the one-and-done players and try to hype them up as much as possible. Remember last year how they kept a list of them and their stats on their front page as well as multiple articles touting it as "the year of the Freshmen"?

Mods,
Please change the misleading thread title to "Scorned ex-lover". Existing title is confusing for everyone.

Thanks,
cydline2cydline
My thread name is not misleading at all...UNLV beat Arizona. I couldn't care less about Rashad Vaughan, Jacque Vaughn, or Lindsey Vonn...my question was how far do the Wildcats fall. Rest your hamstrings from jumping to conclusions.

Vaughn in Hoiball would be a much different story just like BDJ has been. I mean come on guys, there couldn't be a more relevant comparison.

Maybe now we can dispense with all the Dave Rice coaching sucks threads and why would RV want to play for that crappy offense, etc., etc. I have no clue if Rice is good or not, but obviously he must do something right because he just knocked off a good Arizona team with young players. Of course, really talented young players.

One game doesn't change the fact that Rice is a horrible coach
