Match 11 of 14 tomorrow (Wednesday) night in St. Paul.

The US should be expected to come away with 3 points in this. Anything less than a win and things could be pretty nervy heading into the final international window.

Agreed. Really simple, if you can’t beat this Honduras team at home to get the full three points, you don’t deserve to qualify directly for the World Cup from CONCACAF. Take your chances in the dreaded playoff to get in.

This is the type of game where I’d just wish they would play it in Cali or Texas and let our talent do the work.

Do we want Mexico or Panama to win? or maybe a draw? Best match of the day.
Since the goal is to qualify no matter the finish in the CONCACAF table I lean toward wanting Mexico to win, especially if we get three from Honduras. That gives us a bigger cushion from Panama in that situation. Finishing top-3 is all that matters.

Essentially this is what you we need for a top 3 finish for USMNT. We would still make it even with a loss at Mexico in the March window and regardless of outcome in our last game at Costa Rica.

Wins at home against Hondouras tomorrow and Panama in March
Mexico Beats Panama tomorrow
Costa Rica loses or ties one of the next 3 games (At JAM, H CAN, At ELSAL)

Figuring Canada has their invite in the bag.

Panama last three matches: Honduras, @ US, Canada
Mexico last three matches: US, @ Honduras, El Salvador

I guess I need to pull for Mexico, like others have said. Panama's final three is harder than Mexico's

This is beginning to feel like Canada will lay down vs. panama when we need them the last match.

I like that you didn't even qualify your statement with "in a frozen St. Paul in February". Honduras is clearly the worst team in this group, and USA is among the best. If you can't win this game even under the most idealistic circumstances, you don't deserve an auto qualify.

All I can say is that I was so disheartened with the strategy, roster selections and effort in Canada on Sun. Not sure what the answer is but if Gregg keeps rolling out that quality of roster we are screwed. So unorganized.

I just want to get to the point that the Costa Rica game doesn't matter. Win tomorrow and win over Panama should just about wrap up the #3 spot. If we go to the last game with a possibility of 4th (or heaven forbid 5th) that would be disappointing.

Berhalter is just getting CRUSHED right now. I want him to get us there so they don’t sack him and come for Caleb Porter.

I don’t know who is the answer. But I do not like Berhalter.

I think Caleb Porter would be great for the USMNT but the major issue is giving the HC enough power to do their job. Also everyone needs to realize that the goals need to be changed. We aren’t winning the WC any time soon and fans and the federation alike would do well to set up the system with the goal being getting out of the WC Group. If that means taking a defensive team, so be it.
