USPS package missing - any help?

So, I ordered a package from overseas a few weeks back that was "supposedly" delivered to my apartment mailbox yesterday around 4 pm according to USPS Tracking. When I returned home from work, no package. I called USPS this morning and was told that my normal carrier was out yesterday and a fill-in delivered my package. The lady told me she would call my normal carrier (whose back on today) and see if he could talk to the fill-in to help locate the package. 6 hours later.. no call. So I call back and they claim that the Carrier's phone has been off all day. Sweet luck, right? And she suggests calling back around 7:30 a.m. tmrw morning before the carrier heads out. My apartment doesn't have a front desk or anything and I already spoke with my landlord about letting me know if it turns up. I'm kind of at a loss on what to do here, and am kinda feeling like my package is gone along with the $100 I paid for it with :/

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any advice would be helpful!

If you paid with a credit card, make it easy on yourself and file a dispute with them. Way easier than dealing with the Post Office and they will almost certainly refund your money. Debit card should work too, depends on your bank. Paypal would be the best to deal with.

The USPS has a process you can follow, but without insurance it's pretty futile.

I have worked in small package transportation for internet based retail companies for 6 years now. You will need to contact the seller. They are then able to file a claim with the carrier (USPS). The customer (you) dealing directly with the carrier rarely ever pans out. The seller has a bit more pull with the carrier.

You do have 2 things working against you on this. You are dealing with an overseas seller and you are dealing with USPS. An overseas seller is much less likely to help you compared to a domestic seller. And the USPS is much more frustrating to work with when it comes to cargo claims.

I had this exact scenario last week. "Delivered" on Thursday but nothing in my mailbox. Showed up on Monday/Tuesday of the following week. My guess is that they put it in the wrong box (#phrasing) and my neighbor kindly didn't keep it and corrected the mailman.

Hopefully you still receive it as well!

THIS...if it was a fill-in postal worker ; maybe leave a note for regular carrier on/in mailbox about stating situation when regular carrier was out on Monday???... maybe... best of luck...I will pray to patron saint of lost packages as well.

Check with your neighbors. You have no idea how many times I would get packages delivered to my apartment while living in Ames that were other apartments' packages, or other apartments would get mine. Happened with FedEx and UPS, never USPS.

Yes, I've had similar experiences. Advice, don't have anything shipped from overseas and never, ever have anything shipped by the postal service, you'll never get it. Ever. You know how many packages I'm still waiting for? Hundreds. I dream of the day that a truck pulls up filled with packages for me.

UPS lost a $2000 computer a few years ago. Since it was worth enough they wouldn't deliver it, so it was on the truck, I got the notification that they missed me, called the warehouse, and it wasn't there. So they managed to internally "lose" it in the span of 2 hours. Weird.

It took them over week to admit it, but once they did, I had a replacement in less than a week.

Also, what kind of penis enlargement pills are you purchasing? It seems like you could get those from a domestic supplier.

They didn't lose anything. The UPS driver has a great new PC though.

haha, I appreciate all of the help and comic relief. The story gets better, or worse in my case- before I headed home for work I gave my local USPS a call back to see if she had spoken with the carrier about retriving my package. She tells me that he (my carrier) was able to locate it and deliver it to the correct location (my place).

Woo-hoo! right? H*%$ no. I get home to find absolutely nothing. So I give them a call back, and they're closed.

I'm gonna give them a call back in the morning but I don't see much changing. Not sure why the lady told me it was found and fixed. Didn't know delivering a package to the correct address was so hard!
