Sounds like they have made some major improvement now over when I had mine done back in 1988. Enjoy it, best thing I ever did.

I would encourage taking the pre-op Valium if they offer it. I did. You likely get better (less pain) results if you are really relaxed and the Valium does the trick.
Oh yeah valium worked great when I had LASIK. I was so relaxed I sat like a rock during the surgery and afterwards I floated out of there with a big smile.

Not exactly sure.

You got Valium? They put drops in my eyes to avoid feeling pain. Except the drops didn’t work in my first eye. I felt the whole cut.

Yikes that would have been impossible for me to sit still. I actually had the Valium and the numbing drops.

I said no as I'm a cheapskate, & $100 seems like way to much for something that does so little.

For reasons unrelated to the procedure, they wanted me awake when my wisdom teeth came out. I also apparently metabolize pain meds oddly, so I had to raise my hand halfway through to get another shot when I started to feel them working. I was incredibly tense - first dental work ever - so after that they really opened up the flow on the nitrous. And… my goodness. Not a care in the world.

I had to come back later that day because some of the packing had come out and I was bleeding like mad. My mom drove me (I was 19 and in no condition to be behind the wheel), and they did the same thing with the nitrous. I was so relaxed that she was, several times, concerned that I may have stopped breathing. I can’t promise that anyone’s experience will be the same, but, goodness, was it effective. And enjoyable. Five stars.

Ha, yeah that sounds great. I've had it a couple times during dental procedures and barely even knew it was there. Figured they wouldn't let it flow too freely for a 10 min procedure that they insist you can drive home from.

I've got some xanax wonder if that
I don't know about no needle, but mine was scalpeless. No incision, just what looks like a pin prick on the skin. Was definitely better than some of the experiences I've heard the other way. I didn't even use a frozen pea bag. It was seriously easy.

But that being said, don't overdo it if you are feeling fine. You are fine until you aren't and then there really isn't any going back.

I was also told to just drop off a sample. Passed (no swimmers) the first time.

I've got some Xanax. Wonder if that would do the trick just the same?

For anyone that is going to get one, bring some dude wipes. Not sure if this is normal or my nurse was just lazy, but after the procedure you are covered in iodine down below. It is everywhere. They handed me a jock strap and said "alright, you are all set". They did not clean up any of the iodine, nor did they offer me any way to clean myself up.

That was probably the most off-putting part of the whole process. like wtf? glad I didn't wear my 70's tennis shorts.

Had a cute nurse assistant shave my sack for me. Would have, but the setting and mood wasn't right at the time.

I went to work right after I had the procedure done. No issues at all.

Tomorrow is the big day. Not as many takers for last minute specimen as I expected.

Not gonna lie, I'm not looking forward to this. And the hypochondriac part of me is convinced they will find some unexpected ball cancer.

Well it would be better to catch such a thing now instead of letting it progress and get worse. Even though it’s highly unlikely

If you’re referring to the potential for increased prostate cancer risk the research on that is very controversial and considered to be inconclusive according to the American cancer society and other research groups. While some studies have shown a small increased risk the mechanisms behind it are unknown and there are multiple other factors at play.

Good luck! Had it done ten years ago this week. More pain meds and frozen peas needed than I expected. Error on the side of caution with exercise. Not having to use a rubber is fantastic.

Don't worry. The nerves ahead of time are worse than the procedure. But then you have the anticipation for when you find out that it took and you can use your newfound freedom.
