He played in both halves, it was fairly early in the first half and it wasn't for long. I had been wondering about Clayton too, because I work with his aunt over in Nevada and even as of this morning she didn't know if he was going to redshirt. You used to be able to play a small number of games and still get the redshirt, is that still the case??

I think he's going to get a redshirt...but that's just my hunch.
Plus, that's what I'm hoping for. But injuries may play a role in that.

Ugh...read the thread. Redshirts in basketball is different than football. I don't know the exact requirements, but unlike football, a player can play some minutes in regular season games and still get a redshirt.
Ok, I just spent 20 minutes searching the internet for the rule on redshirting and came up with absolutely nothing.

Redshirt Definition
The term "redshirt" is used to describe a student-athlete who does not participate in competition in a sport for an entire academic year. If you do not compete in a sport the entire academic year, you have not used a season of competition. For example, if you are a qualifier, and you attend a four-year college your freshman year, and you practice but do not compete against outside competition, you would still have the next four years to play four seasons of competition.
Each student is allowed no more than four seasons of competition per sport. If you were not a qualifier, you may have fewer seasons of competition available to you. You should know that NCAA rules indicate that any competition, regardless of time, during a season counts as one of your seasons of competition in that sport. It does not matter how long you were involved in a particular competition (for example, one play in a football game, one point in a volleyball match); you will be charged with one season of competition.

No, they're not different. The medical redshirt is the same. It's just that in FB, a majority of players use the actual redshirt. In BB, most players don't redshirt, so a medical redshirt is more of a possibility. Once you've used your actual redshirt, getting a medical redshirt is much more difficult.
At a summer outing I once asked Tim Floyd why he didn't redshirt a certain player. His answer was that he only believed in redshirts if he saw the potential in the player to become an all Big XII caliber player.
