Fennelly for coach of the year.

Not going to happen, it will go to Connie Yori, most likely both conference and national to. The only way BF gets coach of the year is if he wins the National title and that would national and not Big 12. It really is a shame that he has yet to win the Big 12 coach of the year.

I like so many things he said during that. I like how he deflected the questions about the 6-day prep, emphasizing how they did it in 2 days ... how the team has gotten 2 years of coaching in 4 months (or whatever it was).

Also cool how he basically admitted he didn't have anything to get mad about at halftime. Because he's obviously not one of those guys who'll just let the team relax when things are going well.

Probably right, that's the way it'll go. But if ISU finishes close in the standings, you could easily make an argument the other way -- lost 3 of top 5 starters; and is it 3 freshmen on the starting unit.

I'll take Bill any day.

Lost 3 of the top 5 starters on a team that went to the Elite 8 last year, compared to Nebraska who had a losing season last year and who has never won a conference tournament or been to the sweet 16. Bill Fennelly has done a great job, but it just isn't close to what Nebraska is doing.

ISU IS the powerhouse of the North. ISU has a winning record against everyone in the Big 12 (since the Big 12) except Baylor. No one else can boast that. For ISU to lose 3 starters and still have a good season is not unusual. For Nebraska to have a good season is unusual.

To be fair though, I think a lot of people that follow ISU women's team expected this to be a rebuilding year and sit at the NCAA bubble. It is a shame that BF hasn't won that award yet. At some point he NEEDS to get it for his overall career in the conference.

I think the coaching job he has done this year with all the freshmen/newcomers is valuable. As for Yori, hard not to recognize an undefeated record, but its a lot easier when you have a 5th year senior all-american.

I did not know that BF has never won B12 COY. That is a travesty and there should be an investigation.

I know that. I didn't think this would be a bubble team, but I thought it would be a low seed. Fact is that if it wasn't for what Nebraska has done, BF would be COY. But he still doesn't have a chance this season.

I'm looking forward to seeing BF win his 500th game this season, only eight to go:yes:

I find it interesting that Mulkey said, “You just have a lot of kids who should not be on the floor right now at this age, but they have to be." I'm sure that, in general, most coaches would probably agree with that assessment. That's what makes this season so amazing to me - that ISU has put NON-McD AA players in that situation with such INCREDIBLE results. I would imagine that getting Freshmen to grow up and play with such maturity is a great testament to our coaching staff (plus major props to the players for buying into the system & coaching)!
