My computer has 256 mb ram, 64 shared. Since it isn't very powerful, I was installing Madden '06 since I thought it was the newest game the computer could run. However, the games minimum specs include 256 mb ram, and it won't let me install the game because it says I don't have 256 mb of memory. Can anyone help me out on why this is?

Sounds to me like you need to invest in a memory upgrade.

I don't think uping your vm will allow you to install it, But you can try by right clicking on my computer. Then goto properties. Then choose advanced, then performance settings. THen the virtual memory tab

Yes because since you have shared memory I'm guessing your video card is taking some of that so your system is only able to use less than the 256 probably. RAM is cheap, find out what kind you have and upgrade!

It could be that the operating system that you run takes up a quarter to half that memory... so even though you have 256mb installed, Madden 06 probably requires 256 mb of unused memory.

EDIT: Yes, RAM is cheap. Find out what kind of memory your system has and upgrade! 512 is the bare minimum these days, with systems that are capable of holding up to 4-8gb of memory.

Do you have 64MB of RAM on your video card, or does it share it between your system memory and your video card?

If you only have 256MB of RAM, and 64 goes to your video card, you're down to 192MB of RAM for your system to use.

At any rate, it sounds like more RAM would probably be the answer to your problem.

If you only have 256mb of ram I'm guessing the rest of your system may need an update soon. I didn't know they sold anything with les than 1gb in the last couple of years.
