Cool. Try him out for a year and see what he looks like. If good, give him the spot, otherwise then recruit another one next year.

Hopefully he comes in and win the job. There isn't another position we were worse at than kicker last year. Lets not talk about some of those great kicks against KSU and KU in 2009 either.

While we're at it, can we have a list of current known walk ons? So far I have:

K-Chris Moore
TE-Ben Boesen
LB-Levi Peters

I like that list of guys who cost us nothing. They would have been scholarship guys under Mac. Now we get them to walk on and grab another guy with that schollie.

It is so bad that I say go for it on fourth down.

So everyone knows.... At the Kohls competition in Dallas, he did not fair well, but that could be a blessing. At this competition he finished 34th in kickoffs and 54th in field goal accuracy. But, that means nothing really because anyone can have a bad day...big thing here is have him come in, under fire and lets see what he can do...thats exactly how diamonds are found....people relying on a bad day and not going much further into it....lets hope this is a connection to our staff knowing someone that said "Listen this kid is good, but, under the radar"...He is rated the 78th best kicking prospect by Kohls and heres a blurb on him from Kohls Kicking....

I have seen Chris multiple times, he has a wide variety of performances that range from dominant D1 scholarship level to D2 level, his upside is solid, his kicking is ahead of his punting but he does punt well, Chris needs to stay healthy and continue to develop his consistency, has great talent.

Obviously has the leg - but as we've seen with so many kickers - i will take accuracy from 40 in then the guy who can kick 50% from 40 out....as yaman said, a free look to see how good he can really be...i likes!!!!

So everyone knows, imo i think he's coming in as more of a Punter then a FG kicker. At the Kohls competition in Dallas, he did not fair well at FG or kickoff distance but was in the top 6 in punter rating. At this competition he finished 34th in kickoffs and 54th in field goal accuracy. But, that means nothing really because anyone can have a bad day...big thing here is have him come in, under fire and lets see what he can do...thats exactly how diamonds are found....people relying on a bad day and not going much further into it....lets hope this is a connection to our staff knowing someone that said "Listen this kid is good, but, under the radar"...

Obviously has the leg - but as we've seen with so many kickers - i will take accuracy from 40 in then the guy who can kick 50% from 40 out....And if he can come in and provide depth for Kirby then thats fine too....as yaman said, a free look to see how good he can really be...i likes!!!!

I imagine that guy the staff is listening to is Jamie Kohl...

Coming in as a punter though? I would have to imagine he would at least work on both with the lack of depth behind Mahoney and the stability of Van Der Kamp.

Kid definitely needs a redshirt though to work on technique.

One area that is impressive in the videos is his ability to compensate and get the ball up in the air. The almost constant high snaps to the holder in the videos and the pressure from the rush put a lot of pressure on the kicker. He avoids problems by getting the ball up quickly which is something that some kickers never master.

This is not me...

I am walking on to AIB's basketball team.. not Iowa State's football team as a kicker.. even though that would be sweet...

That is all...

Why are there literally 20 people in the stands? I thought hs football is big in Texas.

I agree on the last part...his technique is somewhat raw. But then again, if he puts it through the uprights then that's all that matters.

i remember rhoads offering this punter who wasn't even his own HS team's punter at the time. He was a junior in HS and did really well at the ISU camp.

Oh yeah, it was kirby vanderkamp... the guy who was like 10th in the nation in punting last season. He turned out okay. I think we can all trust this staffs ability to judge punters, so hey why not kickers too.
