I think if you had no idea the book existed and saw the movie like that, it would have been at least entertaining. Not great, but worth a rental. The fact that it only had the title in common and that's it without taking anything from the book is what killed me. It's like when they bought the rights, they essentially just wanted to buy the name and make their own movie. Plus, how can you not have te Battle of Younkers in there?!?!

Its really a shame. WWZ would really have been best as an HBO series.

I saw the movie first, then read the book, and really enjoyed both.

You're right; other than the title, they have almost nothing in common, but in fairness to the movie I think a direct adaptation of the book would have been extremely difficult to make, if not downright impossible.

This is why I agree with what was mentioned earlier about a series being made on HBO or similar. Band of Brothers style, talking about events through limited narration and showing them happen along side.

the potential from the story in the book was skyhigh.

I agree with this. I think a movie adaptation that would be fair to the book would be probably the most expensive movie ever made. I'm just frustrated that I think they bought and used the name just to get fans of the book to go. It really could have just been titled anything they wanted it to be, but felt the name would make them their money worth. Smart business sense, but frustrating.

Problem that arises in WWZ is that, because they're not alive with blood flow, they'll freeze and the body will preserve, but when spring hits and thaw comes, they'll start moving like usual again. You're only safe during the cold winter months and there's less food sources there.

Can't we just kill them all during the winter months when they are frozen?

Chances are its in an extreme northern place like Canada or Russia, so the snow would often cover the frozen. Not until after the thaw started would you know they're there. In WWZ people were often being bitten because while the bodies couldn't move sometimes, if there was enough thaw, the jaws and arms still could.

I highly recommend the book. It does an excellent job covering the bases.

I've always wondered how this would work. Do they metabolize food for energy? Are they warm blooded then? If not why not move north where it was cold. If they were not generating their own body heat they wouldn't be able to function in the freezing temps. If they were warm blooded then they would have to be metabolizing food would they not? If this were the case, then starvation would be a factor which would suggest some sort of mortality, the body can only cannibalize itself for a limited period.

Your trying to make scientific sense of a show where there was a zombie apocalypse.

So I'm watching Blade 2 while flipping between games.... I knew I had seen the actor that plays Daryl before, he was Blades assistant that turned bad. Weird seeing him as a different character though the personality is t far off.

I believe he was also in Boondock Saints (though I've never seen it). He was in the first episode of the new Hawaii 5-0 as well.
