Some notes from a second viewing:

1. Morrissey had the better of Scherff on passing downs but not on running plays. Morrissey would have had a big TFL had he not been shoved in the back by Scherff on a running play though. (no call) I think Brandon is a guard at the next level but who know's how much his knee played a part on Saturday.

2. I still can't figure out why that pass interference play was picked up. Bizarre.

2. Mitchell Myers was a handful inside.

3. We have some guys in the secondary who love to hit. (Mutcherson, Tribune, Cotton-Moya, Floyd)

4. ISU pass protection was pretty good, and really good when Iowa blitzed.

5. Wimberly only seems to get what the play was blocked for and rarely gets good yardage after contact. I rarely saw him make anyone miss.

5. Nealy got plenty of yards after contact beyond what the play was blocked for. He was unlucky on the second fumble as both hands were on the ball close to his chest.

6. The receivers still drop too many.

7. Lazard is good.

8. Richardson is making good decisions.

9. Jarvis West looks like he might score on every play.

10. The officials weren't that bad.

Wimberly may have been coached to avoid contact. Or maybe he's a bit shy after being banged up last year, but he sure had plenty of yards after contact against Texas.

Wally really mixed it up on D. The entire two deep saw action. Myers could definitely have a bright future. So could our safeties. Fingers crossed for the end of attrition!

Here nor there
IMO, given the competition, we played a bit better against KSU. Iowa does not have playmakers like Waters and Lockett, and KSU' rb is better than anything Iowa has.

That last drive is impressive though, given we were depending on Lazard and Medders at WR.

Block in the back is 100% legal on the line of scrimmage between the tackles.

I would probably agree with this. Although it was nice to finally have a productive second half. Actually Iowa St was probably fairly similar in the 1st & 2nd halves against Iowa, but because of the fumble at the 1, the score doesn't show.

Well, yea, but the LOS isn't 3-4 yards downfield where the contact happened.
I'm surprised the Big 12 didn't review that as well. Does a team have to file a complaint for it to be reviewed by the conference or something? It doesn't do anything to help and ISU won the game anyways so maybe ISU said screw it, we'll let the refs **** up that one.

When our offense is moving the ball consistently this team is a decent team, not great but not bad. After ndsu debacle everyone said well we are awful but let's see how they do against a top 20 ksu team. We should have beaten this top 20 team, really blew it. Then eveyone said well ksu might not be a top 20 team so let's see how isu does playing AT Iowa. We then basically manhandle Iowa for 3 qtrs and could have easily won by 10+, on the road mind you and everyone is saying well Iowa sucks.

One thing is for sure, we will all know what we have next Saturday.

Actually, IF (a big if), we keep it close with Baylor or win, people would say Baylor was inflated by the weak competition in the first 3 games. We cant get any respect...

(no call) I think Brandon is a guard at the next level but who know's how much his knee played a part on Saturday.Morrissey had a monster game. I hope this was because he is a monster DE and not because Scherff wasn't 100%. I think it was a little bit of both.
2. I still can't figure out why that pass interference play was picked up. Bizarre
Biggest B.S. Call if the season. The receiver was clearly last the line of scrimmage. There was nothing that could have proved the call on the field correct.
2. Mitchell Myers was a handful inside.

3. We have some guys in the secondary who love to hit. (Mutcherson, Tribune, Cotton-Moya, Floyd)
This seems to be a key attribute of every CPR defensive back through out his tenure. These type of players really fit his bend but don't break scheme perfectly. They are great at forcing turnovers.
4. ISU pass protection was pretty good, and really good when Iowa blitzed.
I agree here as well. Sam E Richardson needs some major improvements in coverage and catching the balls that are thrown directly to him. But I love have a solid tackler on the outside that will force RBs and sweeping WR back in to the core of defensive line and line backers.
5. Wimberly only seems to get what the play was blocked for and rarely gets good yardage after contact. I rarely saw him make anyone miss.
I agree here as well, which is why we have seen so much Nealy this year. I do like seeing Wimberly get the ball in space and I think all he needs is another game like the Texas game last year to give him confidence the rest of this season.
5. Nealy got plenty of yards after contact beyond what the play was blocked for. He was unlucky on the second fumble as both hands were on the ball close to his chest.

6. The receivers still drop too many.
SR completion % says otherwise... Although if we wanted to nit pick there were a few balls that could have been caught Saturday. It's not like we have Aaron Horne like WR out there anymore.
7. Lazard is good.
This is true. The kid has a solid 2-4 years of slaying ISU co-ed ***** ahead if him...
8. Richardson is making good decisions
I think this is the product of having an O-line that gives him 3+ seconds to throw and Mangino calling plays that can instill confidence in his QB. Mostly plays that are meant to get first downs, not putting us in several 3rd and long situations.
9. Jarvis West looks like he might score on every play.
Yes he does, he has really developed into an explosive menace for the team. I love watching him with the ball in his hands
10. The officials weren't that bad
Aside from the bogus non- pass interference call they did a pretty good job
.

Well, yea, but the LOS isn't 3-4 yards downfield where the contact happened.

I actually think the rule states something about where contact is originated. So it wouldn't matter how far down field if contact originated at the line of scrimmage. My question to you is how would it have been a tackle for a loss without the block in the back, if said block in the back happened 3-4 yards down field?
