Claire had not signed an LOI yet, just a verbal. Kopatich's case could be more like Katie Robinette's where she has to sit out a year and lose eligibility for that year. Unless the Big 12 would grant an exception. Don't count on it.

Her case would be like Mckenna Treece who signed with KSU (never played still in high school) then was released from her LOI after Deb Patterson was fired. Kopatich has never played a college game, so the B12 can't force her out for a season. The issue she may run into is a new coach letting her out of her LOI.

I think she's a good coach just doesn't appear to be an amazing recruiter, which should be easy to do with those facilities.

I'm sad but not devastated. I'll be really devastated when Sherri Coale goes. She ain't the sexiest chick I've seen, but not gonna find many WBB coaches hotter than that.

Bonnie pulled great classes into KU. Her 2014 class of three had 2 top 100 players, and her 2015 class of four has 3 top 100 players, so 5 top 100 players in two years. We had 2, and have had far more success that Bonnie has ever had.

Bonnie's problem was never recruiting, it was getting all the pieces in place and on the same page. She was also hit hard by the injury bug with Carolyn Davis, Angel Goodrich, and Danielle McCray.

Though not in the BIG XII, what about third year Illini coach Matt Bollant? A guy I had designs on to one day replace Bill.

Here is this years record:

Overall,
15-16 with only 6 wins in the B1G - last year he was 9-21 with only 2 wins in conference. With great recruits onboard this season (Chatrice White - a former Iowa State target, Amarah Coleman and Kissinger) it seems there should be a breakout. I was surprised there wasn't and if Bollant doesn't show some progress in '15-'16 the heat may be on.

Yes, this one is a head scratcher!

The gal at UNO that was at ISU as an assistant it would be a nice upgrade for her. It's her first year and I think she went 13-18.

I had forgotten Brittany Lange got the head coach job there. She came to ISU after playing one season at Creighton. After a redshirt season and one season of playing at ISU, she retired due to recurring injuries and became a student assistant.

She was 26 when she got that job. That's quite a fast run to a Div I head coaching position for someone whose mom isn't a legendary coach.

I can think of three Iowa State Grads or assistants getting their start at Iowa State. Does anyone have a link to a story or list of those with such connections whom are currently coaching?

Former Fennelly assistant Katie Abrahamson-Henderson was named the head coach at the University at Albany for the 2010-11 campaign and has led the Great Danes to two NCAA Tournaments. She spent five seasons as head coach at Missouri State, where she led the Lady Bears to two regular-season Missouri Valley Conference championships, three NCAA appearances and a WNIT crown. Chris Kielsmeier started his coaching career as a student manager for Fennelly. Now the head coach at Wayne State, Kielsmeier also spent eight seasons as head coach at Howard Payne University, where he led the Lady Jackets to a 33-0 record and the 2008 NCAA Division III national championship. Kelly Kebe Kennedy, an assistant in Ames from 1999-2002, spent four years as the head coach at the University of Akron.

Former Cyclone and all-Big 12 performer Janel Grimm Burgess also entered the coaching ranks, taking over the Grand Valley State program in Allendale, Mich. In her third season Burgess directed the Lakers to a 20-8 mark and an NCAA Division II Championship berth. Brittany Lange, who played for and was a student assistant for Fennelly at Iowa State (2006-10), was named head coach at Omaha in 2014. Another All-Big 12 performer Heather Ezell joined the staff at Southeast Missouri in 2011.

Don't forget Robin Pingeton who was an assistant here and is now MU head coach. Building a decent program there last I heard.

Missouri hasn't been very good under Pingeton. Two WNIT 1st round losses in 5 years, with 17 wins being their best season (each of the last three years, all SEC), and a 26-58 league record combined in the Big 12 and top-heavy SEC. I'm thinking she was better at a mid-major (Illinois State) than at a Power 5 school. There isn't much on that resume' over the last half decade that would grab anyone's attention in a good way and make them want to throw money at her like they did with Bonnie. I would hope they learned from that mistake and look elsewhere.

MU basketball as a whole suffered by moving to the SEC. She is relying heavily on in-state recruits, but has a few dandy players recently in Porter sisters(daughters of a coach) and Cunningham she has signed. All 5 star level recruits.

Has been plagued by injuries as well.

Next couple years could be really good, but may need to be bigger for SEC play.
