ok i didnt even read the whole post/thread thing because i honestly believe this season is done with.

Let me guess, you are a motivational speaker by trade.

we might squeek out one more win somewhere down the road. I LOVE our assistant coaches and they are trying to get their players in that they need to run their system. That being said i dont think our program will get turned around (meaning winning about 5 games) for another 4 years.

My mistake. You are a fortune teller.

I mean did you guys watch the florida state vs. miami game? or the GT vs. clemson game? those guys have straight up athletes. We do not have one player that would see minutes on those type of teams, NOT ONE. I hope we win more than 1 more game especially with oklahoma state, missouri, kansas state and colorado down and with a kent state team loosing their star running back and then the next week we have army if we cant win more than 1 more game with this schedule and everything falling in our favor dont expect anything for a while.

Nope, you are a motivational speaker AND a fortune teller.

Geesh, again one game -- the second under a first-year head coach who in his FIRST stint ever as a head coach -- and most of you guys want to cash in your chips for the season. Look at Ferentz's first two years at Iowa. Look at Fry's first two years at Iowa. Good grief people.

As far as Dan McCarney not being the coach anymore -- do you all really think things would be much better right now? I like Coach Mac and wished he could have found a way to stop the downward spiral of his program, but he couldn't or wouldn't.

Cyclone fans are all too familiar with losing FB games. I think a lot of the concern has to do with the "how" it was lost. This was really an ugly game from our perspective.

Add in the fact that the last three years of BB has lessened the thrill of "looking forward to BB season" while the FB season is in the crapper and you have some disheartened souls.

Frankly, the old "keep the faith" arguments get tired.

what did i say so wrong? if we cant win more than one more game this season with everything falling in our lap for us its going to be a while to turn things around. and YES if coach mac was here things would be different he had one bad season and we still won 4 games something that i would die for this season.

If you think the old "keep the faith" is tiring now...just wait another 40 years or so and it will really be crap-city..

Wrong , check your stats. Coach Mac had a few bad seasons. Try 97-98, 98-99, and 03-04 and that's not all of them. Things would not be different if Coach Mac were here. He had plateaued and was not going to get the Cyclones past playing for the Big 12 North title every once in awhile. I'd be shocked if we only won one more game this season.

yea and you see how long it took him to turn isu football around. what makes you think rhoads will do it so fast?

What makes you want to keep posting about ISU football? It's obviously a lost cause for you so why are you here? Do you hate yourself?

McCarney had a whole lot more than ONE bad season. He was 56-85 in 12 seasons as a coach. That is a .397 winning percentage. That being said, it stacks up pretty comparably to former coaches at ISU. The last coach at ISU to have won more than 50 % of his games was Earle Bruce with a .529 winning percentage.

Quit raining on the revisionist history that happens here!!

You are so right. The thing that everyone points to about McCarney is that he got us to some bowls. What they fail to point out is how much easier it has been to be bowl eligible in the past 15 years or so. Heck, under the new world with 30 plus bowls and over 50% of the teams going to a bowl...I know Walden had a season (and Criner may have even had one too) that would have led us to a bowl appearance.

The real shame of the McCarney era is the failure to capitalize on an extremely weak Big 12 North...never making it to the Conference Championship game.

I will take the bet on 5 wins or more in a season within 4 years. Hell give me 5 to 1 and I will say next season. Do you think Boise St has the athletes FL St and Miami have? I doubt it, I really do. How about Utah and BYU? You don't need spectacular athletes to compete. Maybe to win championships, but not five games. You are just another "fan" that makes no sense to me. If we aren't successful and there is no hope, why do you insist on being here. I don't have a problem with being reasonable, but I don't understand how you can be a fan when you have no hope for the team. There seems to be a lot of those guys.

Also i would bet everything i have that we wont have a 5 win season in the next four years.

I don't know.. what kind of car do you drive? Have any old baseball cards? I need to know if it's worth my while before making a bet like that.

Actually look at utah and byu recruiting class its pretty darn good and boise st. recruiting class is good for the location they are in. Also i would bet everything i have that we wont have a 5 win season in the next four years. go to cyclones.com and look up our schedule for the next four years its nuts. I hope we do but i just cant see it happening.

If the team improves in the future we will get some wins. If it stays the same we wont. I believe PR and staff will get this team to improve. I dont care about recruiting class rankings, its what they do on the field in college that matters.

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!

First of all, the Germans bombed Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Secondly, it was over, because the Allied forces surrendered after that attack which is why the Italians now run Europe.

Until we're able to fill some of the holes in our front 7, I'm not expecting ISU to win more than 4 games. McCarney's best teams had guys named Hayward, Reed, Carstens, Word, Smith, Leaders, Brown, Curvey, Berryman, Robertson and Dobbins. Our 2000 team had 5 of those guys in the starting lineup at the same time. That's why they won 9 games.

This year's team has Jesse Smith, and Fred Garrin is starting to make a name for himself. But that's pretty much it. The DL is as limited as any I can remember in the last 20 years. So far, they're even worse than last year. Sims is helping to make up for a lot of their mistakes, but how long can he keep that up. It's time to start the youth movement on the DL. It paid dividends when McCarney did that in 2003 and I think we have some good potential talent that is sitting on the bench (especially Laing and Black).

We are going to win this game this weekend. Our boys better wake up and play to win this game. No more losing to teams like this one. Get it done.

Go Clones!
