Monty this has to be one of your funnier posts.... The only way Jamie Pollard is going to a bowl game is by BUYING A TICKET!!!

Or hope the rest of the conference collapses around us. Which is pretty much how Mac got to 5 of his bowls.

But don't let realism get in the way of one of your rants, Bobby.

Well, at least 3 of the 5. The 2000 team was actually a pretty good team, and the 2002 team actually made it to 6 wins before the epic collapse. But that being said we didn't (cough, cough) "share" two North titles in 2004 and 2005 because we suddenly became this juggernaut in the North. But yet I think Monty has somehow found a way to pin the failings of both of those teams on JP as well...

Sorry, I meant 4 (of the 5). Had it going through my head he made it to 6.

The 2000 team was legit, IMO. I agree with you on that.

2002 could have an arguement one way or the other. Where did NU finish that year? Argueably their worst team in decades. KSU? CU? KU? How did we fare against Mizzou?

We didn't exactly face spectacular competition and come out ahead - save maybe Texas Tech and iowa.

What was Mac's record versus ranked teams, and teams that finished the season with winning records?

I hate bagging on our teams.... but some people need to keep a sembelence of objectivity and compare apples to apples.

Sadly, you are probably right.

I don't know what is worse -- the way people complain that the current 32+ bowl games make it meaningless for the plethora of teams that go bowling, or the fact that Jamie cannot take us to a bowl game no matter how easy it is these days.

Funny, I haven't seen Jamie Pollard on the field lately. For all of the beating this guy takes he has sure done some nice things. Such as an increased athletic budget this year. How many teams have done that that had 5 wins in the past two years?

Actually look at utah and byu recruiting class its pretty darn good and boise st. recruiting class is good for the location they are in. Also i would bet everything i have that we wont have a 5 win season in the next four years. go to cyclones.com and look up our schedule for the next four years its nuts. I hope we do but i just cant see it happening.

Ok so we have a deal, I get everything you have if we have 5 wins in any of the next five seasons. You get, well I just said I would bet, so I guess bragging rights if we don't. You do realize we will be favored in the next two games and I believe we will win both. That gives us three. We then have KSU on a nuetral field and Colorado and Baylor come to Ames. I think we get two out of those three and one more against someone we shouldn't. That's six with a one game margin of error for me. I feel good about this. Man, I hope I don't lose. I really don't care if they were pretty good. They weren't as good as Oklahoma's, or Alabama's or Oklahoma's again. You can build a team that can compete year in and year out with recruiting classes that are somewhere in the 60-80 range. Is it more difficult? Hell yes. What I am saying that is much more important to be able to develop and utilize your talent than it is to recruit absolute studs. There are a lot of programs that should be a NC contender year in and year out but aren't because they don't do the two things previously mentioned. Keep in mind that this staff has only had about 9 months with these kids which is definately not enough time to develop them. I think a 3* can be just as good as a 4 or 5 by their Junior year. The difference is that the 4 or 5 may be at at college level right away but often times these kids don't progress heavily throughout college.
